Most people have trouble creating content.

They either don’t have time, they don’t know where to start or they struggle with generating content ideas.

Sounds familiar?

In today’s email I’ll show you the framework I use to quickly come up with content ideas.

I like to call it the Headline Framework. This is how it works:

What’s The Headline Framework?

The Headline Framework is a proven method that most prolific writers and creators use. It basically consists on starting to create your content from well, a headline.

An example 👇

Jakob took the time he had on a long train ride to quickly come up with 8 content ideas. If you look closely, all of them could work as an article or newsletter headline.

From here, Jakob’s creative process becomes more manageable. Instead of starting from a blank page, he’s starting from something concrete.

He can work on developing each of these ideas into a new piece of content FROM that headline.

This process works for tweets, LinkedIn posts, newsletters, and even Youtube videos!

Explained like this, I know it sounds kinda effortless. The challenge here is in coming up with these content ideas. And do it quickly.

Dozens of ideas in seconds - The Content Grid

Some of you already know about the Content Grid, as it’s a tool I’ve shared over and over on this newsletter.

This simple template consists on a grid with three different columns:

• Topics: the specific topics you talk about on your niche
• Angle: references the lenses through which you will be getting the message to your audience
• Structures: The structures are based on past content formats that are proven to work

The “magic” happens when you randomly combine each of these columns to generate a new content idea. Let’s see it with two examples 👇

On the first line combination, we are looking at an Aspirational take on lessons learned while freelancing.

Immediately, the “I made 50k as a freelance in a year, here are 50 lessons learned” title popped up in my head.

On the second line, we are looking at an actionable take on Digital Products using the “This vs That” structure. This title came to mind → “Good product launch vs Bad Product launch - Examples”

As you can see, what we generated using these grid is nothing more than content headlines.

But now, coming up with the actual content is way more easy. I have a concrete place to start instead of facing the blank page.

Moving forward

Coming up with the headline first is one of the fastest ways to generate new content ideas.

Now this doesn’t mean that the first headline you come up with should be the final headline.

The core idea behind The Headline Framework is that the headline you generate works as a guide for the rest of your content.

Then you can come back and work on that headline which, as you know ,will be the most important part of your piece of content. But that’s an email for another day.
