How I Removed 30 Internal Links in 2 Minutes...

Sometimes when you talk about on-page SEO, we only think about adding new internal links or optimizing articles.

However, what if we want to REMOVE a bunch of internal links pointing to an old article? (There could be several reasons for doing this).

I just removed 30 internal links pointing TO one of my old articles in about 2 minutes. Doing it the "old" way would have taken my closer to 2 hours...

Here's the old way of removing internal links pointing TO an old article:

1. Figure out what internal links are pointing to that old article. You will need a tool like Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or other SEO tool to run a report. If you don't have one of these tools you might have a really hard time figuring out your internal links.
2. This report just gives you a list. Now you need to login to your site and edit to the first article on the list.
3. Find the internal link in the article by scrolling through the article.
4. Highlight the anchor text and remove the link.
5. Now go to the second internal link listed on the report, edit the article, find the internal link, and remove the internal link.
6. Repeat this process 30 times (or however, many links you need to remove).

This process would easily take over an hour to remove just 30 internal links. In fact, in my estimate it would take 2 to 4 minutes to remove each internal link. (Logging into article, hunting for the internal link, removing, waiting for your article to save... So, it could take as much as 2 hours!
