Picked this one up over the weekend, it’s about how an American private equity firm bought South Korea’s largest bank during the 1997 Asian financial crisis.

I’m about a 3rd of the way through - easy read, lots of detail, very trustworthy.

This aired on Nickelodeon before the movie came out. Contains a bunch of extra footage & in-character interviews.

The Truman Show is still underrated.

George Hotz leaving Comma (article)

If you haven’t heard of him, George is the guy who was the first person to jailbreak the original iPhone, back when he was 16 years old. (He wrote the linked post too)

He then started a self-driving car company called Comma. What they’ve done is one of the most impressive engineering accomplishments I can think of? Basically you put a phone/camera on your car windshield, and using Comma’s software the car can “self drive”, in this case meaning stay in lane & adaptive cruse control from 0.

The impressive thing IMO is that Comma is only about 10-15 engineers. Compared to Tesla or Waymo’s self driving efforts that sounds… insane. It makes irrefutable that some human beings are literally 10,000x more productive than others. Here’s another post from George comparing Comma to its competitors, and why some of them have lost their way.

Anyway: George wrote a great post on why he’s leaving, some parts of it that stuck out to me:

“There are days I feel like I’m the chosen one, days I feel like I’m not, and other days I feel it’s crazy to even believe in the chosen one. I’m trying to craft a journey to find out which is true, I should put it to the test before I’m too old.”
