Ive been doing involved in the online marketing space for over 15 years, and the amount of big Google algorithm updates we have seen this year is unlike any other Ive ever experienced.

This is one of the many reasons that you want to start owning your audience. Moving website and social visitors to email lists so you can market to them again and again.

This is true whether you own a niche blog, ecom brand, or saas. No matter what you want to be in control.

While I have ya here, I wanted to remind you all that display ads aren't always the way to monetize a content site.

This Week’s Opportunities

There are a couple interesting sites I found this week - lets look at one in the mental health space. The listing can be found here​

This is a 1.5 year site. It currently makes all its money from the Betterhelp affiliate program.

The Betterhelp affiliate program pays $225 USD per conversion and all conversions can be tracked through the Betterhelp dashboard.

Almost 20% of the content is written by a therapist professor at a Maltese university, which gives high quality and more authority to the content. This is something you might want to keep going as Google really puts weight into who is writing content in the mental health space when it comes to ranking pages.

First off the site hasn't sold - I would say its slightly overpriced and would value it at $100k or so if it passed a full due diligence.

There are 2 obvious levers here in my mind to pull to increase revenue and the value of the site:

1. A pop up lead form that captures emails and presents the visitors with a quiz. At the end of the quiz they would be suggested to sign up for Betterhelp - those that didnt sign up exactly then would be in a weekly newsletter about mental health "sponsored" by Betterhelp with more links in it.
2. A local therapy directory - you could easily build a directory page, and do some simple cold emails and DMs to therapists offering them $20 a month to be in the directory. It would come with a backlink and description and contact info. Maybe ask them to link back to your site as well! Get paid to get backlinks!

I dont think it would at all be difficult to increase revenue on this site by $1500 a month or so between these 2 changes. This would increase the value of the site by roughly $50k+.

If you made these changes month 1 and really worked hard the first month - you could make make $46,980 in the first 12 months of owning the site.

When you sold it you might be able to get $160,000+ from the sale -

If you paid $100k that would leave you with a total profit of....$106,980.00

As always...do your own due diligence, the above is based off of what I see as an opportunity from the info provided in the listing and some light due diligence, not a deep dive. It just one of many scenarios that could play out and its up to you to do your own due diligence and see if this makes sense for you!
