I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate and a nice chilled Sunday if you don't...

I'm staying off Twitter for another couple of weeks while I'm travelling, but, 

I just wanted to quickly show you what's been happening with that site that I tested building a few HARO links to...

Cool, huh?

The increase is across all pages, - it's not seasonality or a sudden increased interest in any one topic.

The site was a DR 0 so a handful of links from DR80+ newspapers and magazines appears to be working wonders!

Plus, I've now been able to add a 'featured in' section to the sidebar.

This should make it more appealing to any other journalists that are looking for a source to link to.

As I mentioned in one of my previous emails,

He responds to HARO requests as soon as they come in, using his tried-and-tested process.

If you're not making money from your niche sites yet,

Then throwing money at link building probably isn't the wisest idea.

I wouldn't advise anyone to go into debt for something that they aren't sure will work.

If your keyword research and writing is bad,

Then all the links in the world won't help you.

I know this site is good because it was getting around 25k pageviews/month without a single link.

HARO is perfect for DR0 sites that have good content,

But, I'm financing this with the profits from my other sites.

If you're not yet making money,

I would suggest doing HARO yourself first.

Before you get someone else to do it.

It's easy, once you know how!

(The only reason I don't do much of it myself any more is because it takes time.)

One of the trickiest parts of HARO link building I've found,

Is knowing which pitches to reply to.

You get a big list of pitches three times per day.

And you can be much more efficient if you simply know which ones are worth your time.

The last thing you want to is spend time crafting a killer pitch,

Only to land a nofollow link from a DR5 site.

That's practically worthless.

So,

How do you know which HARO pitches to reply to?

Well, Chris (who does my HARO) has a database of hundreds of websites that pitch on HARO

It shows the:

• DR
• Organic traffic (probably more important than DR)
• Whether it offers dofollow or nofollow links

 
This is insanely valuable for anyone doing HARO link building themselves or with the help of a VA.
