Every day, we are finding new resonance—through poetry

Dear Reader,

There’s nothing like Poem-a-Day, which celebrates what Arthur Sze says about poetry, that it “is language at its most intense.” Poetry’s “concentrating power,” he continues, “is uniquely suited to magnifying the resonance of surprising juxtapositions.”

It’s in poems that we’re prompted to reflect on fundamental questions that help us understand ourselves, one another, and our world.

Poem-a-Day offers this every day—from 260 new poems by today’s poets to the more than 100 poems we present on the weekends, reintroducing poets from the past. And we’re able to do so only because of your partnership. Please, if you’re able, take a moment now to support this special series in 2023.

With exclusive insights and a reading by the featured poet, information about the poet’s background and publications, recommended further reading, and historical context, Poem-a-Day offers a unique way to deepen our connection to poetry and its power.

While Poem-a-Day is free-of-charge, it’s not free to produce. To pay the featured Guest Editors and poets, and to underwrite production and distribution costs, we rely on gifts from devoted poetry readers like you.

I hope you take heart in being a part of a vibrant community of readers. And I thank you in advance for your contribution towards a new year of Poem-a-Day.

Sincerely,

Tess O’Dwyer

P.S. To reach our fundraising goal this year, we need to raise $5,000 today—that’s 112 more readers who choose today to bring poetry to the people. Will you be one?
