Issue 249 - Unassisted windows, no more

Earn $DIMO and Store your Data
[Sponsored] In the world of connected vehicle apps, DIMO is building not just an app, but an ecosystem. Connect your Tesla, see your data in a beautiful app, and use DIMO to access other service providers that can help save you money. And you can earn $DIMO, the new token launched by the DIMO Foundation.

Software Updates

No more unassisted operated windows 📷
According to our friends at Teslascope, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has made a new requirement that Tesla must remove several features that allow for the unassisted operation of windows. The remote features that will be removed include:
  • The ability to vent and close the windows from the Tesla App.
  • The feature to automatically close the windows upon locking the car
  • The automated closure with the car wash mode
I'm going to miss the ability to close the windows upon locking the car.

V11.3 in about 2 weeks?
V11 continues to undergo internal testing at Tesla. Elon seems to believe that the third minor iteration, V11.3, will be ready for wide release in approximately two weeks. It's worth noting that Elon's estimates have been known to be inaccurate in the past, but I can't help but get excited about the potential release nonetheless.

Semi & Model Y
Tesla Semi and Megacharger 📹
A close-up video of a Tesla Semi at a Megacharger has been captured. The Semi appears formidable, and I couldn't help but notice that the cable of the Megacharger is quite thin, as was mentioned during the first deliveries of the Semi.

Tesla using caliper covers on the Y Performance rear brakes 📷
According to a report from Drive Tesla Canada, Tesla has replaced the Model Y Performance rear brakes, which were larger than the LR brakes, with smaller rotors and caliper covers. This change has resulted in a decrease in braking performance and less stopping power. In my opinion, this alteration is not appropriate for a vehicle that is marketed as a high-performance car.

Model S & X

Rear Tesla logo removed on S&X  ðŸ“·
In an image from the online configurator, we can see that the Tesla logo has now been removed and the TESLA letters appear in chrome. It looks weird to me, what do you think?

Model S/X Steering Wheel Retrofit for $700 📷
The owners that I know who have a Yoke steering wheel do not miss the round steering wheel at all. However, I have heard some complaints on Twitter and forums. For those of you who do not like the Yoke steering wheel, in March, you will be able to retrofit a round steering wheel for $700. Please note that this new steering wheel will still not have stalks or shifters.

Plaid test drives in Europe
Great news for our friends in Europe, Plaid test drives are now available in selected European countries.

Tesla now allows you to vote every 3 months on Supercharger locations
As we mentioned last week, Tesla has implemented a new system where they select new stations based on popular vote. According to "Not a Tesla App," Tesla will be counting votes every three months to decide the best locations for the new Superchargers, in addition to the strategic locations that they choose to open.

🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • FSD - Full Self-Driving
  • NHTSA - National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
