MIDDI - Just a Dash
In search of the finer things in life — because the finest ones still cost too much.Sometimes, it just takes one small thing to complete the picture or help you stick to a new routine. A little flourish that makes everything click. These are the finds that make us say, “Ah, that’s what I was looking for.” In every edition of MIDDI, I try to share products that provide a solution while still being fun to use. They have both style and substance, as they say. This week’s three finds will help you pull it all together and make this whole adult thing look and feel a bit easier. And each one proves you don’t need to go overboard—with quantity or cost—to get the effect you’re after. Just a dash’ll do ya. 1. Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo (£25) For me, it was love at first mist with this dry shampoo from Amika, the haircare brand born in Brooklyn in 2007. It has a super fine spray that is easily worked into the hair so it disappears quickly, along with all that oil. The main ingredient is rice starch, which helps the hair look and feels clean without leaving a white cast behind, while sea buckthorn provides nourishing omega 7 and antioxidant protection. And now, they have a supercharged version with rambutan seed extract, arrowroot powder and mandelic acid to help you go even further between washes. 2. Calzedonia Premium Matt Second Skin 15 Denier Tights (£15.99) A delicate pair of sheer black tights can add a dash of sophistication (and sexiness) to any outfit. Whether you’re going for a glam or goth finish, these tights from Calzedonia will give you legs for days. For me, it’s all about the little details here, which include a wide waistband that smoothes you out without rolling down and invisible, seamless toes so you can wear them with different shoe styles. Best of all, they’re run-resistant, so they won’t end up in the trash after a single wear. I’ll be living in them until spring. 3. waterdrop® Microdrinks (£6.99 and up) Drinking enough water has always been a struggle for me. It takes a long time for me to actually feel thirsty and I have a major sweet tooth. If you told me tomorrow that Coca-Cola was nutritional, I would have a Richie Rich-style drinking fountain in my house within hours. These awesome little drink tabs from waterdrop help me meet my daily water goals without derailing my diet (or ruining my teeth). The brand was launched in 2016 and now offers a variety of hot and cold drinks that work with its gorgeous drinkware. My favorites are Glow, Relax and Youth. Something to think about … One easy step you can take to support the planet is switching to tree-free toilet paper like this one from Bumboo, which is made of 100% bamboo. They’ve also partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant one tree for every product purchased with a goal of planting 500,000 by the end of the year. Last week on MIDDI … MIDDI is a weekly roundup of mid-priced beauty, fashion and home buys released every Monday. Have a product you’re searching for? Leave your suggestions in the comments. |
