There’s a singular truth that binds us together, regardless of our political leanings or religious beliefs. It’s the realization that we’re all connected, that what comes around really does go around. We have more commonalities than differences with one another.

When we’re young and have less experience, it’s easy to assume that the world is inherently good. But through our trials and tribulations, we start seeing how the world is much more complicated than what it appears to be on the surface. 

As the old joke goes: “If you’re not liberal when you’re younger, you have no heart. If you’re still liberal when you’re older, you have no brain.” But seeing the world clearly means having both your head and heart. It means to remain empathetic despite there being evil in the world but also to not bleed our hearts for every event outside of our control.

What hurts the whole hurts the individual. Our shared principle is to be kind to yourself and others, so we can become wiser and build the hive.
