Issue 256 - A Tesla Semi drives into a Tesla Owners' meetup...

Charging

A Tesla Semi drives into a Tesla Owners' meetup... on accident! ðŸ“¹
This FritoLay semi-truck was stopping for lunch when it ran into a Tesla owners' meetup, causing them go bananas. The driver wasn't able to say much as they have contacts in place, but he did confirm that the semi-truck doesn't have FSD (at least for now) and mentioned how great it is to be seated in the middle of the cabin.

Cybertruck & Semi

Cybertruck looks like CGI 📹
In this video, recorded at the opening of the Tesla Engineering HQ last week, the Cybertruck really looks like it's CGI, making it hard to believe that we will start seeing some on the roads later this year. In a response to this tweet, even Elon mentioned that it doesn't seem real when standing next to it.

Another video of the Cybertruck at the Tesla Engineering HQ, this time inside and with lights and electronic music. 🤤

Tesla opens up the Supercharger network 📹
We've talked about this in the past, and this week Tesla has finally opened at least one Supercharger station to non-Teslas – the one in Scotts Valley, California. In the video, you can see how it works: essentially, you can choose the stall from the app, which will make it compatible with the CCS Combo through a magic box, and you can plug it in right away. Thank you, John, Raj, and Tim, for recording and publishing the video!

Cybertruck prototype at Investor Day 📹
During Investor Day in Giga Texas, a close-up view of the production prototype revealed some notable changes. This prototype features a "rectangular" steering wheel instead of the yoke that was previously seen.

Hardware updates

Tesla Model S/X Builds spotted with new Autopilot cameras 📷
Our friends from the Kilowatts found a new Model S and Model X with what seem to be new cameras, and here are some interesting highlights:
  • The repeater cameras have a much wider angle.
  • The rear camera has a bigger housing.
  • The front and pillar cameras seem to have an upgraded lens.
All the cameras have a red hue on the lenses that could be indicative of an anti-glare coating.

New 18″ Aero wheels? 📷
This Model 3, probably part of the refresh project called Project Highland, comes with new 18" Aero wheels. These ones are matte black and hint at another change to be released soon for the car. Personally, I never liked the original Aero wheels, and I hope these are an improvement over them.

FSD

FSD Beta v11 getting on and off the highway 📹
There aren't many videos of FSD V11 out yet, but this tester mentioned that exiting and entering the highway is objectively smoother than when it was running on the older stack. They haven't found anything that makes them think there has been any negative progress. Exciting!

🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • CCS - Combined Charging System
  • CGI - Computer-generated imagery
  • FSD - Full Self-Driving
