Happy Friday,

Finally! Daylight Savings is here, and I’m ready to lean into all the hopefulness of spring. This week has all the good stuff: Sunny snacking cakes, feel-good workouts, more skincare faves from Alisha, and plenty of spring book recs to page through in a sunny spot. xoxo—Aliza Abarbanel, Executive Editor

This Week's Picks

Curated this week by Aliza

Reading and loving: Two great new books reframing wellness culture came out this week:

The Body Liberation Project, by wellness personality Chrissy King, covers how to separate self-worth from how we look and build physical strength in individualized ways.

Real Self-Care, by women’s mental health specialist Pooja Lakshmin, MD, is rooted in a paradigm shift to find true self-care outside of consumerism.

Weekend baking: This sunny, plush olive oil cake with blood orange glaze is almost too pretty to eat…almost. I love how olive oil cakes stay moist on the countertop for days, and this one is equally ideal for breakfast, afternoon tea, or dessert.

If you're looking for the absolute SOFTEST joggers ever: "I'm a superfan of this best-selling pair from Vuori. They're buttery soft, stretchy, and they're nice enough to wear outside the house. I've bought them in 3 colors (and am a BIG fan of Vuori's other stuff, too.)" -Alisha, Founder at GNI *Sponsor

So you want to be a mentor: Check out the latest podcast from NPR’s Life Kit, all about structuring nurturing relationships that aren’t one sided or weird.

Sweat it out: This beginner-friendly pilates workout requires no equipment but still packs a punch—perfect for incorporating into a morning workout or evening wind-down.

Green thumbs wanted: I started lusting over these cheerful gardening gloves while planning my first ever spring garden: the sturdy cotton protects hands from thorns while offering grippy dots to help grab stubborn weeds. But I swear, the lavender flower details make them cute enough to wear for daily life in colder weather. (They come in designs like mushrooms and radishes too!)

For the cat people: I can’t wait for Catnip, a new magazine for cat lovers launching this fall. Sign up for the good mews—sorry, news—when they launch, and in the meantime, their Instagram is a great source of joy, a.k.a. kitten pics.

Another meal chart: If you loved cookbook author Julia Turshen’s flexible soup matrixes in Issue #307, you’ll love this graph showing three meals that use up core ingredients like precious-but-perishable fresh herbs. (Get the full recipes here.

Sleep more, stress less: Support your circadian rhythm with Apollo, a neuroscientist-developed wearable using proven touch therapy to track and rebalance your nervous system while you sleep. Try it*Sponsor

The quickest route to dinner: I often rely on store-bought curry paste to build big flavors in minimal time, and this Malaysian version from Mama Lam’s is truly in a league of its own. It’s rich, complex, and made from family recipes by a mother-daughter duo (cute!).

Memorizing vocab is one thing. But actually speaking a new language is another. Everything about Babbel’s bite-size language lessons are designed for real-world use—a.k.a. things you’re actually interested in or need to know while traveling. Welcome to The A List, a little corner of the newsletter where I share some of the best stuff I've purchased or have seen around the internet. This week, I'm sharing a few things I've splurged on recently to make my skin extra glowy. (If you're looking for more budget-friendly picks, have you seen last week's issue?) Steeped Rose Hand Wash
Homecourt, $30

If you follow me on IG, you already know the deal. This hand wash from a new brand started by actress Courtney Cox smells so, so good. I typically dislike rose-scented anything, but this smells like fresh-cut roses, green stems and all. It's got a fresh, vegetal, yet grounded smell that will make you look forward to washing your hands. I reached out and they gave us a code! You can use GIRLSNIGHT15 for 15% off all orders.
The Cream
Augustinus Bader, $290

I know, I know. The price tag is absurd. It took me many months of mustering up the courage (and saving) to hand over nearly three Benjamins for this much-lauded face cream. My review? It is good. It works especially well as a moisturizing primer before putting on makeup. I can see a visible difference in how smooth and dewy my skin feels after using this. With that said, there are other, less pricey alts out there if you're looking for a rich cream, like this one from Beauty Pie which costs $22 if you're a member.
Active Serum
iS Clinical, $142

My facialist recommended this medical-grade exfoliating serum after cleansing 2-3x a week and I'm never looking back. You can feel it working and tingling underneath the skin, which any good active serum should do. It helps greatly with acne and fading dark spots.
Facial Steamer
Vanity Planet, $59

I bought this a few weeks ago on a whim after seeing makeup artist Nam Vo use it on her IG Stories for a little at-home spa moment. I like that the nozzle is adjustable, and the base remains sturdy on your counter, thanks to suction grips. It comes with 4 nozzle heads so you can use essential oils without getting the scents all mixed up. I've only used this twice, but I'm looking forward to using it more  for those "extra special, extra relaxing skincare routine" days.
