Hi there,

What a week it's been - lots of cool new announcements and releases, so let's get right to it:

1. GPT-4 / Midjourney V5

It's been an absolutely incredible week in the Artificial Intelligence world. You've probably already heard of (and maybe used) tools like ChatGPT or Stable Diffusion (for image generation).

Well, this week we got 2 huge new releases.

GPT-4, the follow-up to the current ChatGPT model (gpt-3.5-turbo) got released and demo'ed by OpenAI. The new model does lots of things better than the older ones, but here's just a few of the noteworthy features:

• The model can accept images as input and fully understand / analyze those images (not available to the public just yet)
• The model is waaay better at passing certain qualifying tests like the bar exam, being in the top 80th percentile for most tests
• The model can accept context of up to 8.000 tokens, with limited access of another version accepting up to 32.000 tokens (that's 50 pages worth of text!)

The GPT-4 release is another monumental step forward in AI, and I'm personally excited to see what people will build with it as the API access gets rolled out over the coming months.

As if that wasn't enough, another AI company - Midjourney - released version 5 of their image generation tool with the same name. Midjourney is great at creating "ultra realistic" looking images, and the new release promises more stilystic range, higher image quality and more detailed images. Here is an example from the Midjourney discord server:

Really fascinating stuff - and again I'm excited to see how developers can utilize this amazing new technology to build cooler and better projects!

2. New React documentation

React is not just an awesome JavaScript library - it's also the most popular.

And over the years, React has evolved a lot from just a simple UI library to where it is today. It's now being used in frameworks like NextJS or Remix as a building block to create scaleable and performant web applications.

React itself has also changed a lot, from Hooks being introduced in 2018 to Suspense and Server Components now in React 18.

This evolution is awesome, but my biggest gripe with React has always been the documentation. I always felt it was confusing, hard to understand and teaching the wrong things.

Well, that ends today! React just released their official new documentation, covering all the cool new features and truly representing how React is written today. The new docs are a breath of fresh air and a great resource for new and experienced React devs alike. I highly recommend checking them out, regardless of your current experience or familiarity with React:

3. Sanity CMS

There's a lot of options to choose from when looking for a headless CMS - but from what I've seen, Sanity is one of the best. Sanity is "the Composable Content Cloud", and it's basically a way for you to define the structure of your CMS directly in code.

This means you get amazing flexibility to customize the CMS right in your front-end project with Sanity Studio. Running locally like this makes it a lot easier to get started with Sanity compared to something like WordPress that traditionally runs on a server.

You can use Sanity for any type of application like blogs, marketing websites, e-commerce stores, large content-driven sites etc. They offer a generous free plan and a pay-as-you-go structure if you need more "juice". The documentation is also very good, so I definitely recommend trying out Sanity for your next project!
