Weekly project updates: ConsenSys free NFT, Uniswap Wallet on App Store, Solana phone Saga public sale, etc
1. ETH’s weekly summary a. ConsenSys launches NFT collection to commemorate Shanghai upgrade link On April 12, ConsenSys announced the launch of its NFT collection “Ethereum, Evolved: Shanghai” to commemorate the Shanghai upgrade. The commemorative edition will be airdropped to Ethereum core developers on April 13th, and the public edition will be open for minting to all users for free for 72 hours starting from 9:00 am Beijing time on April 13. b. Ethereum completed the Shapella upgrade link On April 13, Ethereum completed the Shapella upgrade at block height 6209536, and validator withdrawals are now enabled. Nearly 30 hours after the Shanghai upgrade, nearly 240,000 ETHs have been withdrawn; nearly 100,000 ETHs have been deposited. Within 24 hours, ETH rose nearly 10%, breaking through $2,100. RADIX, RPL, LIDO, and ARB also saw significant increases. c. IP addresses of ETH stakers monitored, raising privacy concerns link On April 14, a researcher at the EF revealed that the IP addresses of ETH stakers are monitored as part of a broader set of metadata, causing the privacy concerns. “There’s a lot of metadata, you can look at deposit addresses, you can look at withdrawal addresses, you can look at fee recipients, you can look at IP addresses.” 2. Arbitrum’s weekly summary a. Arbitrum community initiated the AIP1.05 proposal link On April 9, the Arbitrum community initiated the AIP1.05 proposal, proposing that the Arbitrum Foundation return 700 million ARBs to the DAO Treasury. The overall framework proposal AIP-1 previously put forward by Arbitrum DAO did not pass, but the Arbitrum team implemented the proposal before the end of the proposal, including giving control of 750 million ARB tokens to the Arbitrum Foundation. b. ChainLinkGod.eth votes against AIP 1.05 proposal, citing risks and PR motivations link On April 9, Chainlink community ambassador ChainLinkGod.eth voted against the AIP 1.05 proposal by casting 4.8 million ARB against it and posted that AIP 1.05 seemed more like a PR move to improve image and brings more risks than benefits to the DAO and foundation. ChainLinkGod.eth believes that the confusion brought by AIP 1 to the community has been resolved with the transparency report release and AIP 1.1/1.2 proposals. c. AIP1.05 proposal fails with 84% opposition votes link On April 15, the AIP1.05 proposal voting ended, with a total of 141 million ARB participating in the vote, of which 84% were against and 14.57% were in favor. 3. Solana’s weekly summary a. Solana developer proposes switching encryption standard from Ed25519 to Curve25519 link On April 10, Solana developer Valentin Madrid proposed a change to the encryption standard of Solana key pairs from Ed25519 to Curve25519. Curve25519 is commonly used for key exchange where both parties in a transaction generate a shared secret key to encrypt messages between them and establish a secure communication channel between nodes. Ed25519, on the other hand, is commonly used for digital signatures, which prevent fraud or tampering with transactions. Using Curve25519 is more favorable for protecting data privacy, but is more vulnerable to attacks during transactions, such as side-channel attacks (SCA). b. Solend, a lending protocol on Solana, released Phase 1 of its V2 update link On April 11, Solend, a lending protocol on Solana, released the first phase of its V2 update, which includes three features: borrow weights, TWAP oracles, and outflow rate limits. New parameters (LTVs and borrow weights) will take effect on 4/17. Solend has reminded users to update open positions to avoid disruption. Earlier on March 6, Solend released its V2 whitepaper with the goal of reducing risk and improving decentralization. c. SMB faces community discord over acquisition and development vision link Solana Monkey Business (SMB), a top blue-chip on Solana, faced community disagreement over its acquisition and development vision. The confusion surrounds SMB’s direction after the acquisition and how it will align with MonkDAO and govern. The new SMB team’s vision includes Gen 0/1 and Gen2 as representative of the Web3 community and as a boundaryless brand penetrating the real world, with Gen3 as a new series to reward Gen2 holders and expand the community and brand. In the past week, SMB’s floor price has grown over 50% to 230 SOL. d. Solana mobile phone Saga to hold a product launch on April 13 link On April 12, Solana Mobile tweeted that the Solana mobile phone Saga will hold a product launch on April 13 at 10am Pacific Time, and the launch event will be live-streamed on the official website, Twitter, and YouTube. Saga is a flagship-quality Android phone proposed by Solana Labs in June 2022. e. Solana’s compressed NFTs surpass one million in minting volume link On April 13, after being launched for a month, the number of compressed NFTs minted on Solana (NFTCompressedNFTs) has exceeded 1 million. Nearly 900,000 compressed NFTs were minted through the Bubblegum app of Solana’s NFT standard protocol Metaplex, and more than 382.8k compressed NFTs have been minted through Bubblegum from April 10th to now, setting a weekly record. Compressed NFTs are one of the most anticipated events in Solana’s ecosystem this year. According to the official statement, by compressing the state, the cost of minting NFTs on Solana can be reduced by 2,400–24,000 times, and the cost of minting 1 million compressed NFTs is about $110. f. Solana mobile phone Saga to go on sale to the public on May 8 link Solana Labs has announced that its encrypted smartphone, Saga, will go on sale to the public on May 8 for $1,000. The device features 512GB of storage, dual rear cameras, a 6.67-inch OLED display, and a fingerprint scanner, and runs on the latest Android operating system. The unique feature of the Saga is the “Solana Mobile Stack” (SMS), a series of custom add-on components that integrate cryptocurrency utility into the phone’s software and hardware, including an exclusive Solana dApp store. Pre-orders for the device are currently shipping. g. Solana Foundation introduces convertible grants and investments to support Solana ecosystem link On April 15, Solana announced that its foundation is introducing convertible grants and investments to support the Solana ecosystem. While grants have been the main support mechanism for open-source non-commercial projects, the foundation will also provide public goods for closed-source projects in the ecosystem. 4. Sui’s weekly summary a. Founder of Mysten Labs reiterated that there is no airdrop plan for SUI link On April 10, Mysten Labs founder Adeniyi Abiodun said that SUI has no airdrop plan or never will. Previously, the Sui Foundation has repeatedly stated that there is no official plan for airdrops. Community members can only obtain SUI through the community access plan. b. OKX, Bybit, Kucoin to list Sui Token link On April 15, several exchanges including OKX, Bybit, and Kucoin announced the listing of Sui Token with a subscription mechanism for the WL whitelist. Binance has not yet announced the listing of Sui Token. Sui has no airdrop plan, but there is a community access plan for the 100,000 people WL whitelist. The token sale price for SUI is 1 SUI = 0.1 USD, with a maximum purchase limit of 10,000 SUI per person. Whitelist users can purchase up to 1,500 SUI from a pool of 25,000,000 SUI at a price of only 0.03 USD, with the tokens being fully unlocked during the mainnet launch. Mysten Labs announced a buyback of FTX shares for approximately 96 million USD. According to publicly disclosed information, a total of 594 million SUI were released in this event, of which 450 million were publicly sold at a unit price of $0.1 on OKX and KuCoin (225 million each). Another 144 million were sold to whitelist investors at a unit price of $0.03 on OKX (25 million), KuCoin (25 million), and Bybit (94 million). The total fundraising amount was $49.32 million with an average unit price of $0.083. Previously, FTX reportedly obtained approximately 890 million SUI at a unit price of $0.114 for $102 million in the B round financing of Mysten Labs (currently repurchased by Mysten Labs for $96.3 million in cash). Sui’s official website currently emphasizes that US citizens cannot purchase the token. 5. Uniswap’s weekly summary a. Conflux proposes Uniswap V3 deployment on its network with $2M liquidity pool link On April 7, Conflux proposed the deployment of Uniswap V3 on the Conflux network on the Uniswap forum. The Conflux Foundation will provide a total of $2 million in liquidity for CFX-USDT and other pools, with $1 million in liquidity incentives. b. Uniswap has announced the launch of Uniswap Wallet on the Apple Storelink On April 13, Uniswap announced that its mobile wallet has been listed on the App Store in most countries/regions, supports users to trade on the Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum and Optimism, and can use fiat currency for cryptocurrency purchases, with a transaction fee of 2.55%. c. Uniswap v3 to be deployed on Polygon zkEVM link On April 14, Uniswap DAO passed a proposal to deploy Uniswap v3 on Polygon zkEVM with unanimous support. Polygon zkEVM is a ZK-Rollup solution compatible with the Ethereum ecosystem. Uniswap v3 is already available on multiple EVM-compatible chains, including Ethereum, Celo, and Binance Smart Chain, as well as Layer2 networks such as Optimism and Arbitrum. 6. New privacy blockchain Namada proposes first-ever shielded airdrop to Zcash link Namada, a new blockchain that focuses on multichain privacy, has proposed an airdrop of its upcoming Namada staking token (NAM) to holders of zcash (ZEC), the cryptocurrency native to privacy-focused blockchain Zcash. This will be the first-ever direct airdrop to shielded ZEC holders — zcash users who choose to keep their transaction details private. The Anoma Foundation, the organization behind Namada, says it’s targeting a May 2023 mainnet launch. 9. Klaytn Foundation announces hard fork and token burn, KLAY price rises 8% link On April 13, Klaytn Foundation announced a hard fork scheduled for April 17, as part of KGP-6 proposal, which will burn 5.28 billion KLAY and allocate 197 million KLAY to GroundX. Following the announcement, KLAY saw a 8% increase in the past 24 hours. 10. Cardano development team releases its first native wallet Lace link On April 11, Input Output, the development team behind Cardano, released the first native wallet for the Cardano ecosystem called Lace.
