Copywriting tip: Put two things together that shouldn’t be together

Content trend: short curated video clips on Twitter

You can engineer virality by sharing short video clips of other creators and celebs sharing nuggets of value.

I’m not making this up!

This style of content is beginning to trend on Twitter. It works because:

• The Twitter algo seems to be pushing video content
• You are leveraging someone else’s credibility (high profile creators and celebs)

The first person I saw doing this was Billy Oppenheimer (great name).

In fact, basically 90% of his content is like this.

I also heard about this from Jay Clouse, who mentioned in his community that he's experimenting with it.

Here, the main question is whether this actually translates into something valuable beyond likes and retweets. Worth a try.

Lesson learned: Give people an excuse

After launching my last two digital products, I noticed something.

The moment I launch and customers begin to trickle in, I always recognize some of the names.

I'm sure they get something valuable out of the product, but they also buy it to show their support.

If you have been doing content for a while, I bet some of your audience (even those who never like or comment) are willing to support you.

They might just need an excuse!

Why your lead magnets should be under a “pay what you want” model

Typically, a lead magnet is something you offer for free in exchange for someone’s email.

But there’s another way to think about it (one I stole from Josh Spector).

Each year, Josh releases a product that summarizes the lessons and tactics he shares in his newsletter.

This is a “Pay what you want” product, meaning that people can get it free, but also donate whatever amount they want.

The stats from the last year:

• 1,058 downloads
• 119 people pad
• Avg payment of $9
• Revenue (aprox): $1,071

This is approximately $1,000 in revenue, which isn’t bad at all, but here’s the best part.

By doing this, you basically uncover the audience members who will pay for your stuff, even if they don’t have to.

If they pay for something they don’t have to, they will be more likely to pay when they do.

Now you can segment these people and present them with more offers. Your superfans!
