Issue 271 - Greentheonly taking apart HW4

FSD Beta 11.4.X

First impressions of FSD Beta v11.4.3 by Chuck Cook ðŸ“¹
Another fantastic video by Chuck Cook, whose initial impression was that the drive was exceptionally smooth. It also includes an unprotected left turn where the car maneuvered through a pretty tight gap. Thanks for the videos, Chuck, and keep up the great work.

Wipers will get super good
We've heard this before, but Elon reiterated it in response to Whole Mars Catalog, who reported that the auto wipers in FSD Beta 11.4.2 worked flawlessly. Elon assured on Twitter that they would become 'super good.' Personally, I'll reserve judgment until I see them cease turning on randomly or activating during misty conditions.

Waymo vs Tesla FSD Beta 📹
Whole Mars Catalog has posted a compelling side-by-side video showcasing both Waymo and Tesla vehicles navigating to a destination without any human intervention. It's an interesting comparison that highlights how each of these frontrunners in autonomous driving technology handles real-world scenarios.

Software Updates

Adjusting the screen layout in the S and X with 2023.20.4.1 📹
Tesla introduced a simple but nice feature with 2023.20.4.1 for the Model S and X, with a simple icon on the left side, the entire layout of the screen changes, to accommodate the passenger controlling it, instead of just the driver.

HW4

2023.12.300.1 adds park assist for HW4 vehicles ðŸ“·
Good news for owners with HW4! In the latest software release, they will now receive park assist features, complete with visual and audio alerts of surrounding objects.

Greentheonly taking apart HW4 📷
Greentheonly recently acquired a new Tesla with HW4, and one of the first things he did was disassemble it. He uploaded a series of high-resolution pictures, citing that the existing FCC images are outdated and of poor quality. Despite many people suggesting that HW4 is vision-only, Green posted pictures of the radar that his car is equipped with, adding that all S and X models come with it.

Hardware Updates

Are ventilated seats coming to the Model 3? ðŸ“¹
In a recent leak, new rumors suggest that the updated Model 3 (also known as Model Highland) will feature ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and an upgraded sound system.

Tesla Cybertruck spotted in Palo Alto today with new camo wrap 📷

A Cybertruck sporting a camo wrap was recently spotted in Palo Alto, sparking excitement in the Tesla community. As the Cybertruck is set to be delivered in stainless steel without a paint option, fans have eagerly explored potential wrap designs. This latest sighting features a wrap seemingly installed by Tesla itself. What do you think?

🤓 What the Acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • FCC: False Colour Composite
  • FSD: Full Self-Driving
  • HW4: Hardware 4, or the latest version of the Autopilot hardware.
