Issue 273 - FSD 12 won't be Beta

FSD

FSD 12 won't be Beta
In a response on Twitter, Elon mentioned that FSD 12 will lose the 'beta' tag. This likely means that Tesla will continue refining FSD Beta 11 until they are satisfied with its stability and reliability.

Smart Auto Wiper and Actually Smart Summon
Elon stated that Smart Auto Wiper will be released in approximately three weeks, and what he humorously referred to as "Actually Smart Summon" (ASS) will follow one to two months later. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I used Smart Summon; I'm hopeful that the "Actually Smart" version will live up to its name 😀

Cybertruck

The tonneau 📹
I think Cybertruck's tonneau cover is beautiful. I do hope it's well-tested and designed for longevity.

Cybertruck charging port 📷
In a new photo released this week, we can see that the charging port of the Cybertruck is placed directly on the trim on top of the rear wheel. Redditors have been debating whether this is a brilliant idea or a really dumb one. Some defend the positioning as a much cheaper part to replace than other parts of the vehicle, while others worry that it might accumulate a lot of ice and mud in the winter. What do you think?

Semi

Pepsi Tesla Semi operation details
According to Pepsi, the Tesla Semi can travel up to 425 miles on a single charge while pulling a 45,000-pound trailer.

Project Highland

Informational thread about the upcoming Tesla Highland (Model 3 Redesign)

Our friends at Teslascope have compiled a Twitter thread about the rumored Model 3 redesign, snippets of which we've shared in this newsletter:
  • Highland represents a complete overhaul of the Tesla Model 3, featuring not only a significant exterior refresh but also substantial interior updates.
  • Numerous additions are expected, including a steer-by-wire Yoke, matrix LEDs, and redesigned ambient lights.
  • The interior of Highland is anticipated to feel fresher, more modern, and much more similar to the recent Model S and X redesigns.
  • It will incorporate a new front fascia and a new bumper camera.
The timeline and method of the new Model 3's launch remain unclear.

Project Highland to be confirmed next month?

According to Chinese media sources, Tesla's Project Highland, which we recently discussed, might be confirmed as early as next month, with the first deliveries expected in September. Personally, at this point, I prefer to keep my excitement in check in case it doesn't happen.

HW4

Cameras on HW4 📷

We were aware that the HW4 cameras offered four times the resolution of the previous cameras, and after viewing this picture, it's clear that the image they produce is significantly crisper.

🤓 What the Acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • ASS: Actually Smart Summon
  • FSD: Full Self-Driving
  • HW4: Hardware 4
