Vox Sentences - The indictment, explained

Recently, a slew of polls have found that Americans’ opinions on January 6 are softening. In explaining the data, Vox reporter Christian Paz notes that former President Trump’s “ability to ‘flood the zone with shit' has helped him erode negative public sentiment.”  

That’s exactly why it’s important for high-quality information to be free. We’re overwhelmed by a barrage of information. It’s extremely hard — or it takes an extreme amount of time — to parse through what’s true and what’s not. 

But because paywalls have proven to be one of the most viable business models for journalism, more and more high-quality outlets are walling off their content. 

We chose a different path at Vox. We don’t have a paywall, because we believe that for democracy to work, everyone needs accessible, trusted, high-quality information — like explainers that help them understand the charges against President Trump, the argument from his legal team, and whether a polarized society can ever really hold its leaders accountable.
