By her own admission, Xtiana Roberson was not someone who created opportunity. Rather, she showed up when needed; when “opportunity called.” But that changed after the tragedy of George Floyd’s murder. Listen to Xtiana’s incredible 2020 journey in her talk for CreativeMornings/Nashville, where she describes how a single act of kindness — buying water for protestors— sets her on the trajectory for activism, in particular, her involvement with the protest at People’s Plaza to confront Nashville’s Governor Lee about racial injustice.

That experience led her to set up Radicalized Brew, a coffee venture for the community, by the community. Xtiana reminds us that the capital M Monumental Moments, tend to be monumental only in hindsight but are often fraught in the moment. Instead, she urges us to give up playing small, because when we finally gather our courage to do so, something monumental starts happening.
