Three Types of Stress

I hate feeling stressed. I get nothing from the rush of adrenaline. Nothing.

Have you ever thought about which types of stress you have in your life?

There are three, in my opinion:

This week, I’ve learnt a lot about the first and where I make things unnecessarily stressful for myself.

What is Dumb Stress?

Self-created, dumb stress is unhelpful because it:

Meaning: when many things in your life are stressful and urgent to begin with, what resources do you have left for yourself when things really hit the fan?

Here are some examples for creating unnecessary stress in your life:

How to Fix It

A caveat: It’s worth looking into why you create dumb stress in your life. There might be more profound mental health factors involved in this you may need to explore with a range of different support options. I can’t make that call for you in an email.

Ideas for fixing dumb stress:

Being independent from social media in your marketing is also a form of reducing dumb stress, for example from algorithm changes. It’s entirely unnecessary to make yourself and your livelihood dependent on that.

Remember this: Stressed is not the norm as a state in life.

PS: Not talking from my high horse here, guru-style. I’ve had many lessons with this. At first, I wasn’t excited* about making the necessary changes. It’s similar to not liking cleaning but enjoying a clean house. I’m still in the process of optimizing these things. Yet, I’ve noticed I’m a lot more calm, make better decisions, and am more robust, when it comes to dealing with challenges. Decaf coffee has been an unexpected game changer. I switched years ago and haven’t looked back.
