How I get more work done in less time
by leveraging an away message


At this point, most people know about the power of email signatures and how everyone needs one. But an often overlooked place in business communications is the away message. 

Lately I've been trying to get more heads down work done on Wednesdays by not letting myself spend any time in my inbox, which for a publicist is borderline sacrilege.
Publicists live in their inboxes. We don't ignore emails. Which means our work is regularly interrupted.

To get editors and clients onboard with my plan of... ignoring them for the day, I decided to be transparent about what I'm doing and invited them in to experiment with me. This way they also had ownership over the process, and maybe even a little inspiration to start experimenting themselves. 

Guess what, Wednesdays are now my most productive days. And not one person has pushed back.
Invite emailers to try something new.
Kirsten also has a great away message that points folks to our bevy of resources located in our blog, for when she is too busy to respond quickly. Even when we can't help, we're being helpful. Truly, a great brand building moment. 
Use your away message to plug your content, projects, or work.

To be transparent, this PR Wins section is a little bit of a self promo tied up in celebrating a Wolf Crafter's incredible success. 

Wallpaper designer Faye Bell  went through our Tweak & Edit PR Review process, updated her website and assets, and was ready to let the media know about her work. What’s more, she had a new product launch coming up the next month!
