Niche Site Lady - I tried something new (mixed results!)

Can you imagine toiling away on a project for five years before launching it to the world?

I don't think I could do that!

But that's exactly what my friend Alex did when he and his team launched KWHero this week.

You might have seen KWHero in the paid ad slot in some of my emails.

Now that it's finally live, I've taken it for a spin,

And below, I'm going to tell you what I like about it and what I don't...

What is it?

KWHero is an all-in one Content Planner, Outline Builder and AI Content Writer.

It's very clever.

You just pop all your keywords into your content plan, and then in two minutes, you're ready to build the article outlines.

The tool analyses the competition and tells you how many words your article should be.

Not only that, it shows you what headings and keywords your competitors are using, so you can include them.

This is similar to what Surfer AI does - but have you seen the price of that thing?? Jeez!

Now, on to my favourite part...

The Outline Builder is very good.

It takes a minute to load, but it's worth the wait.

What I love about this tool, is that you can choose which sites you want to analyse when building the outline.

This is vital because if all your competitors are AI-researched spam sites, then the last thing you want is to copy from them!

In the 80s, we used to call this 'Chinese Whispers'. 

I know that's not the correct term to use in 2023 (sorry - what's the right one??), but the idea is the same.

You don't want to be getting any kind of inspiration from low-quality sites. 

So those Domain Power 1 sites ranking in the top spots will be getting ignored in this step!

Well, not completely ignored, you see...

I'm making a note of them so I can see what else they're ranking for.

And then I'm coming after all their keywords that are relevant to my niche. Sorry, (not sorry!)

Note: Domain Power isn't the same as Domain Ranking or Domain Authority so it's not to do with links. It's about how 'big' the site is in terms of what it can rank for. These low power sites can't rank for much - they're not very good.

The next step is to create the outline

KWHero drafts the outline and then you can edit and rearrange the headings.

I have very high standards when it comes to outlines,

So this isn't a one-click-and-done thing for me.

The headings have all the NLP (Natural Language Processing) terms required, but I always put reader experiences over box-ticking.

So I'll delete some of these,

And add in some new ones of my own that have come up in my keyword research.

The AI content writer

The first time I tried KWHero's AI writer I was like 'WTF is this?'

The first article was awful!

But that was my fault, I had the settings all wrong.

My article was about keeping kids safe, and I selected 'Friendly' for the tone of voice.

Well, it was waaaay too friendly!

It was practically poking fun at ways your toddler might get a serious injury.

Eek!

So I stick to 'standard' now.

And that works much better for me.

I also selected 'beginner' and it included some sections where it explained what a toddler is, like you've never met one.

Not great for an article aimed at parents.

So now I use 'intermediate' to avoid that.

I also stopped ticking the 'simulate human writing' box.

While this sounds good in theory,

Alex has explained that it's primary purpose is to pass Originality.ai detection.

Some people care about that, but I don't.

Not a jot.

I found that the content improved a lot since I stopped ticking that.

How's the content?

In my opinion, the content is pretty good.

Some of it is freaking awesome. Some of it not so much.

I do a lot of editing, but I'm fine with that.

It's still much faster than starting with a blank page.

And it results in a better article overall.
