Before launching his blog Alex Turnbull (a nobody from nowhere in 2013) followed this checklist during 4 weeks in order to build relations with world famous influencers:

1. Find influencers who speak to your audience.
2. Choose only those who personally are able to get value out of your content.
3. Follow them on Twitter.
4. Reply to 2 tweets.
5. Add 2 blog comments.
6. Share two blog posts and send them in a direct, personal email.
7. Send a personal email pitch (click to see an example) with a question at the end "... do you mind if I send you a link?".

Result #1:
More than 85% of the influencers he sent the email to said yes!

Result #2:
He got 20 comments from some very big names on his first blog post.

Result #3 (after 5 weeks):
He got more than 5,000 subscribers, 535 trial signups and generated $3,425 in transactional revenue.
