Just like the natural world depends on networks of plants collaborating and claiming their unique individuality, so do we humans. That's why at The Bloom we hold regular social impact networking events to celebrate a phenomenal leader in the community: on October 27th, join us to learn about the leadership journey of Laura 🌻

Laura is a cuir (queer) Colombian feminist sprouting collection action through the power of storytelling. Her organizing and advocacy efforts began within the immigrant and refugee rights movement and expanded across feminist and social justice movements. She works at the intersections of storytelling, advocacy, resource redistribution, healing, and art. She is the co-founder of SUKUAMIS | Wisdom and Healing, a human rights consultancy collective, a team member of the Global Resilience Fund, With and For Girls Collective, serves as an advisory member of the Racial Equity Index, a board member of FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund, and inroads member. She finds inspiration in social movements, collective care, art, and those that root themselves in solidarity and love.

💸 Grants

​Environmental Photography Award 2024: Annual competition designed to honor photographers who utilize their skills to promote environmental protection. The prize includes the title of Environmental Photographer of the Year 2024 and a prize fund of €11,000.

📚Fellowships & scholarships

​Reproductive Justice Fellowship: Looking for applicants to apply and share ideas on how they would explore the intersection of mental wellbeing with sexual and reproductive health. The fellowship/mentorship program begins in early 2024 and runs for 8 weeks, and you'll receive a stipend, incredible mentors from Planned Parenthood and Vitala Foundation, and a reference letter.

​Bold Movers Program: Investing in Women Working Toward Gender Equity: 2-month program from Vital Voices that invests in women working toward gender equality advancing workplace inclusion, addressing challenges for working mothers and caregivers, and changing the cultural perceptions of women in society.

​CNN Climate Storytelling From the Global South Program: CNN is searching for 15 driven young journalists across the Global South dedicated to shedding light on the effects of the climate crisis within their home countries.
​
​Climate Justice Fellowship: One to two-year post-doc fellowship at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia University for professionals with at least 1-3 years of professional legal experience with a government agency, NGO, law firm, financial institution, or law school center.
​
​Clarendon Fund Scholarships: Up to 140 scholarships for talented individuals worldwide to pursue full-time or part-time postgraduate studies at all graduate-level degree-bearing courses from the University of Oxford.
​
​Africa Cyber Fellowships: One year program for cybersecurity experts from Commonwealth countries in Africa, open to applicants 21 to 65 years old with ~5 years of experience in cybersecurity in law, policymaking, telecommunications, academia.

The Truist Foundation Fellowship is a venture and leadership development program designed to empower entrepreneurs, small business owners, and nonprofit founders with the training, skills, and network needed to scale their impact. Joyful seeds on the program:

🌱 It is fully funded and open to Georgia-based entrepreneurs, business owners, and nonprofit leaders working in underserved and underbanked communities, particularly those who are leading initiatives and efforts in economic development and job creation.

🌱It includes 16 weeks of virtual programming with weekly in-person events hosted as possible. All elements of the program will be adapted and customized.

🌱The weekly time commitment is 5 to 8 hours per week, which includes workshops, speaker series, mentorship, and community events.
