When should you quit your job at a unicorn?

This Week at YC

October 23, 2023
I suppose it's time to introduce myself!

I'm Greg Kumparak. I joined YC a few months ago to help with content and editorial projects โ€” among them, this newsletter. I've been running the newsletter behind the scenes since June or so, mostly making little tweaks here and there to improve the overall experience. I also manage the ever-growing (and recently reimagined!) YC Library.

Another project I'm helping with is one that doesn't have an official name yet โ€” internally, we call it the "Mailbag" series. Viewers submit questions, we record YC's Group Partners answering them off-the-cuff in about 60 seconds.

We've published two so far: People tell us they're liking the format, so we're going to keep making them whenever we've got a bit of time and a camera.

Got a startup question you want answered? Send it to me at greg+askYC@ycombinator.com (a funny looking address, I know, but it'll work) and I'll get it on the list.

Is it time to quit that Unicorn job?

If youโ€™re an employee of a late-stage company right now, how would you know when itโ€™s time to move on vs. time to double down?

There isn't one easy answer, but in this episode of Dalton & Michael the pair share what employees should be on the lookout for โ€” the good signs and the bad โ€” to best make this decision.

Why YC? We asked 50 YC founders.

Why do so many great founders apply to Y Combinator? For the latest episode of Founder FAQ, we asked them.
