Everything you feed to public AI models becomes publicly accessible. So how can you and your staff experiment safely, without jeopardizing confidential data and intellectual property?

Protect Your IP When Using AI

First, help your employees understand the inherent risks of using AI.

Second, develop written policies and guidelines to detail appropriate information-sharing rules for each department in your business.

Combined, these two actions will go a long way toward preventing your company’s private details and intellectual property from slipping into public chatbots like ChatGPT.

Today's tip is inspired by Ron Callis, a featured speaker at Social Media Marketing World.

With numerous social platforms demanding regular content, creating unique posts for each one can burn out even the most creative marketer. Add reporting, research, and all the other responsibilities on your plate to the mix and the hours in a day quickly disappear.

What you need is an approach that saves time while expanding your reach to new audiences.

Streamlined System for Repurposing Content Across Distribution Channels

At its core, effective marketing distills complex topics into easily digestible formats tailored to specific audiences. The same information resonates differently on TikTok versus a blog. Content repurposing embraces this variability, repackaging ideas to convey comparable core messages through distinct presentations.

This flexibility keeps audiences engaged as the material evolves across platforms. Viewers appreciate digestible variety. Meanwhile, you save energy reinventing concepts week after week. Ultimately, repurposing content allows you to create less but reach more people.

Start With Long-Form “Hero” Content

Begin your content repurposing process by developing long-form “hero” content you can use to anchor derivative content across platforms. Content strategist Amber Figlow’s hero content springs from batched monthly video production sessions. She typically records 4, 8–12 minute YouTube videos in the morning. This stockpiles a month’s worth of feed material from a single effort spike.

Amber structures her long-form videos with an intro, three key talking points, and a call-to-action ending. This format allows her to cleanly pull three shortened social media clips directly from each video to repurpose. The discrete talking points become standalone derivative posts. Meanwhile, the full-length video drives traffic to her YouTube channel. This seed content begets an expanding, interwoven content ecosystem sustaining itself through ongoing repurposing.

Base Hero Content on Your Strengths

Not everyone excels in creating long-form video content. Fortunately, the flexibility of repurposing welcomes numerous formats. Strong writers can repackage popular blog posts for social snippets. Podcasters can transcribe audio segments into shared graphics. The only constant is establishing “hero” content and then multiplying derivative iterations.

Trim and Tweak for Different Platforms

After recording batches of long-form videos, Amber edits to tighten the pacing. Removing filler words and long pauses hones engagement. She then extracts key video segments using editing tools like Descript. These snippets become vertical shorts tailored for TikTok and Instagram Reels.

The full video transcript also transforms into derivative posts. Passing transcripts through AI tools like Claude automatically generates blogs, email newsletters, social captions, and more. Letting algorithms reformat core ideas into platform-specific variations saves massive manual effort. This automation allows you to infinitely multiply content possibilities from finite initial recordings.

Schedule Content in Advance for Consistency

Regularly batching long-form content leaves Amber with a perpetual backlog of fresh material for repurposing. She leverages this abundance by scheduling posts weeks in advance through services like Later. Even if life events temporarily preclude content production, her publishing queue stays stocked.

This combination of process efficiency and planning supports consistency across platforms. Followers come to expect regular feed updates without lulls from external productivity fluctuations. Scheduling ahead also alleviates impatience around constantly creating and posting new material. The relief of future security replaces crunch-time scrambling.

Today's advice is provided with insights from Amber Figlow.

🗞 Experience Reels Through Meta AI: Meta has started rolling out Reels integration within Meta AI chats across its apps. This allows users to request and view Reels content directly in AI conversations to visually discover recommendations and inspiration. For example, users planning a trip can ask the AI to suggest top Tokyo attractions and share corresponding Reels to preview destinations. Meta states this is the first integration aimed at building deeper connections between its apps to evolve Meta AI into a more useful personal assistant over time. The integration enables more immersive and dynamic AI chat experiences beyond text. Source: Meta

🗞 Meta AI Characters: Earlier this year, Meta introduced AI-powered characters based on celebrities that users could chat with across its apps. Last week, Meta announced those 28 characters are now fully rolled out across the US on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. Additionally, more characters will support Bing search functionality and a subset will have "long-term memory," allowing the AI to remember past conversations. The long-term memory feature aims to enable deeper connections but also allows Meta to retain data to improve its AI over time. Users can still clear their chat history at any time. Along with existing sports AI characters Bru and Perry, additional characters gaining Bing search support include Luiz, Coco, Lorena, Tamika, Izzy, and Jade. To access the AI characters, users start a new message and select "Create an AI chat." Meta stated that using chat data will follow its Generative AI Privacy guidelines. Source: TechCrunch

🗞 Threads EU Launch: Meta's messaging app Threads, previously launched in the US and UK in July 2022, may finally expand to users in the EU on December 14th. Meta has not yet made an official announcement, instead opting to update the Threads website countdown timer indicating under six days remaining. Meta has not confirmed which specific EU countries Threads will launch in. Source: The Verge
