Niche Twins - Links, Links, Links
It's been nearly two and a half years since I tried link-building for the first time.
Back then, I focused on four different primary strategies: link-bait articles, reclaiming image attribution, Help a Reporter Out (HARO) and slinging 'A-B-C' links on Twitter.
In the end, the two things all of these approaches had in common?
- They consumed an insane amount of my time and
- They yielded pretty much zero results
What's ironic is the strategy I quit on the fastest, HARO, is the one I feel the most strongly about today.
Here's what I had to say about it in August 2022:
*The one thing I absolutely got right, was recognizing that pursuing HARO links was not a good use of MY time.*
So I chalked it all up to an interesting experiment...and I moved on.
Fast forward about a month later and Mike's site was hit with a manual penalty from Google for “unnatural inbound links”.
The timing couldn't have been worse, coming just 12 days after he had signed an NDA with potential buyers.
In the span of about 30 days, I became convinced that link-building was not only a waste of time, it was legitimately dangerous.
But time heals all wounds.
In February the following year, Mike got the manual penalty lifted. And as fate would have it, that was right around the same time we got approached by Chris Panteli with the LinkiFi Team.
Chris' first DM to us read:
I was immediately skeptical.
But then we jumped on a quick call with him. He described the process, cost and timing.
He insisted that they would likely need a month or so to land the first link and at least a few months overall to finalize a 5-link package.
Someone entirely new to content sites and HARO would have likely wanted to hear that their service was fast and cheap.
But anyone who's spent any time at all trying to land HARO links knows just how much time and effort goes into generating countless, high-quality pitches.
Said differently, in this space - fast and cheap are red flags.
We had heard enough and we decided to do a trial run with Linkifi on Niche Twins to start.
The trial run didn't last long. 😂
Here's my message to Chris about a month later...
Mike and I have since added Startup Stumbles and Stay New England into the mix. We couldn't be happier with the results.
Here's a snapshot of just some of their recent wins...
Niche Twins
Startup Stumbles
Stay New England
The bottom line is *relevant, high-quality* links matter...a lot.
And we plan to work on our sites for years to come, so why wouldn't we set them up for the best chance at success from the very beginning?
Linkfi remains the only link-building service we recommend.
Go check them out and be sure to use promo code NicheTwins20 for 20% off all Linkifi packages.
This represents a minimum of $750 in savings based on current pricing.
Leave link building to the experts and get back to doing what you do best – creating high quality content.
Have a weekend! ✌️
