MegaMaker - Product Hunt – worth it?

Launching your product on Product Hunt (in the old days) could get you hundreds (or thousands) of new users.

In his recent post, Tibo reflected:

"When we launched Tweet Hunter on Product Hunt, I remember what a day it was. 100+ new paying users. Instant 20% growth. +$4,000 MRR."

But nowadays, it doesn't feel like many people are visiting the site to try new apps.

In the past, the Product Hunt homepage was a curated list of cool products. Today, it's trafficked mostly by bots (and people who have been asked to support a PH Launch).

So, is it still worth launching your product on Product Hunt?

Spoiler: I'm launching something new on Product Hunt today.
I'd love your support!
❤️

I think it is still worth launching on Product Hunt. Here's why:

1. Product Hunt helps you launch well

Having a launch day on Product Hunt has always helped me get a product's "packaging" ready. This means creating launch graphics, a landing page, a demo video, and crafting a compelling description. These assets aren't just useful on PH; they're useful everywhere you want to promote your product.

Posting on Product Hunt also gives you a reason to email your list, tweet about the product, and send personal DMs to friends.

It's basically "a product launch on the rails."

2. Product Hunt helps rally your community

Launching on Product Hunt also allows you to rally your community around the launch. It gives you a reason to contact your users, friends, Twitter followers, fans, and acquaintances about your product.

Letting people know you've launched is a galvanizing moment: it sets people in motion. Folks come out of the woodwork to upvote your product, leave a comment, and share your product on social media.

3. Product Hunt can boost SEO and online visibility

The visibility from a Product Hunt launch can have lasting SEO and awareness benefits for your product. Tibo also mentioned this in his newsletter: "Success on Product Hunt leads to a special perk for products: a massive SEO boost." According to Ahrefs, Product Hunt has a Domain Rank of 91 (out of 100) and still gets millions of organic traffic every month.

The purpose of a Product Hunt launch is to make a big splash. Even if it doesn't immediately translate into paying users, I think it's worth doing!

As mentioned, I'm on Product Hunt today!
