Are you missing some useful event data in Google Analytics 4? GA4 can track certain interactions without the help of Google Tag Manager—things like external link clicks, embedded video plays, scrolls, file downloads, and more.

Turn on Enhanced Events

First, open your Admin settings. Then, click on Data Streams. Click on a data stream and scroll down to Events. Finally, toggle Enhanced Measurement on.

As long as that toggle is on, GA4 will automatically track page views, scrolls, outbound clicks, site searches, video engagement, file downloads, and form interactions!

Today's tip is inspired by Zack Duncan, a featured presenter in the Social Media Marketing Society.

How to Find the Right Facebook Ad Creative

Are you struggling with low Facebook ads performance? Feel like you’ve tried everything but still can’t improve your results?

It’s easy to say you’ve tried everything, but have you really? Or have you tried the same strategy or technique five different ways?

These tips will help you move away from what you’ve always done and lead you to new strategies and ad formulas that deliver dramatic change in your ad results.

Pro Tip: As you start to see what parts of your ads are most effective, you can use that data to improve marketing across other channels such as SMS, email, and your website.

Alternatives for Copy and Headlines

The written sections of your ads hold a lot of untapped potential, and experimentation is the key to unlocking it. Test up to three versions of your ad copy at a time and 3–5 versions of your headline.

Instead of relying on past approaches, experiment with:

  • Emotional copy

  • Logical copy

  • Pain-point-driven copy

  • Pleasure-point-driven copy

  • Copy focused on overcoming objections

  • Copy that features testimonials

You should also test copy styling by experimenting with adding emojis and changing the tone. For example, if your messaging is typically formal, try a tone that is more fun.

Alternatives for Visuals

Facebook ad visuals can be videos or images. People will always say video is king, and it’s definitely an effective creative asset. Still, marketing expert Tara Zirker says that static imagery drives 60% of her clients’ strongest ad results.

Which is right for your marketing? Again, experimenting with 3–10 types of visuals will reveal the answer.

Static imagery to test:

  • Raw, undesigned images

  • Designed images

  • Instagram-style images, such as quote cards

  • Collages

  • Carousels

  • Memes

Video to test:

  • Long-form video

  • Reels

  • GIFs

  • User Generated Content

Today's advice is provided with insights from Tara Zirker, a featured presenter in the Social Media Marketing Society.

🗞 LinkedIn Profile Views Insights: LinkedIn has introduced a new feature called "Interesting viewers" that allows Premium users to filter and view notable profile visitors. To access this feature on the desktop version, users can select the "Interesting viewers" option at the top of the "Who's viewed your profile" section and further sort the results. On the LinkedIn mobile app, users can swipe on the filters at the top of the "Who's viewed your profile" page and toggle the "Interesting viewers" option on or off. Source: LinkedIn

🗞 Google Search Updates: The company is making algorithmic enhancements to its core ranking systems to prioritize helpful information and minimize unhelpful content created primarily for search engines. Google expects these updates, combined with previous efforts, to reduce low-quality, unoriginal content in search results by 40%. Additionally, Google is updating its spam policies to address new and evolving abusive practices, such as scaled content abuse, site reputation abuse, and expired domain abuse. These policy updates will allow Google to take more targeted action against manipulative behaviors that aim to boost search rankings with low-quality content. The company believes these changes will help users find more valuable and relevant information while sending more traffic to high-quality websites. Google remains committed to continually improving Search and keeping low-quality content at low levels. Source: Google

🗞 TikTok Announced Updates and Enhancements: TikTok is upgrading the Creator Portal to the Creator Academy, which will serve as a comprehensive education hub offering resources, courses, articles, videos, and insights to help creators at all levels. It will cover topics like account health, creation tools, content skills, and monetization features. The Creator Academy will be available in-app and through the Creator Center in seven languages initially, with plans to add more. The Creativity Program beta, which has been successful in growing creator revenue and helping more creators earn significant monthly income, is graduating from beta and being renamed the Creator Rewards Program. It will continue to reward high-quality, original content longer than one minute, with an optimized rewards formula focusing on originality, play duration, search value, and audience engagement. LIVE Subscription, which has enabled live creators to form stronger relationships with their communities and grow their earnings through exclusive benefits like badges, personalized emojis, exclusive content, and community communication, is being expanded and renamed Subscription. It will now be available to non-live creators as well, initially on an invite-only basis. This will allow more creators to offer exclusive content and benefits to their most engaged fans.
