We’re closer to a TikTok ban [Crew Review]

Hey Reader,

A new bill was introduced by US lawmakers that will force ByteDance to sell TikTok under the threat of being banned.

The icing on the cake? The company will have only six months to do so.

The bill, called “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act”, aims to “protect the national security of the United States from the threat posed by foreign adversary-controlled applications, such as TikTok and any successor application or service and any other application or service developed or provided by ByteDance Ltd. or an entity under the control of ByteDance Ltd.”

In a post, TikTok says the bill is an outright ban of the platform, “no matter how much the authors try to disguise it.” This is what Representative Dan Crenshaw had to say:

A TikTok ban will affect not only individual users but e-commerce businesses as well. The platform is used by e-commerce businesses to promote products and has even partnered with Shopify to make it easier for sellers to make a sale without users necessarily going out of the app. In fact, this partnership has been expanded to the UK.

TikTok claims that the bill is an offense to the First Amendment and denies it shares user data with the Chinese government.

How to Keep Your Customers’ Trust

You’ve developed a good product. That’s step 1.

Step 2 is making sure your customers are getting the right quality of product that you designed and envisioned.

Fortunately, there’s a company that ensures you do that even if your manufacturer is on the other side of the globe.

Get your own QA team.

Oops!

If you’re someone who sells books on Amazon, you may be one of those who received an email saying there will be additional restrictions to selling textbook products.

This affected new and old sellers alike, pushing some of them to post about the issue. This got Amazon’s attention, and the company clarified that the email had been sent to a few sellers by mistake.

Most sellers immediately got ungated, while others reported having the same issue occur again.

This Week's Trending Product: Prefab House

The rising trend in the e-commerce world this week is centered around "prefab houses." This surge in interest is largely attributed to Amazon Spain's launch of a pre-fabricated house that is not only energy-efficient but also resilient to earthquakes and priced at an accessible €27,556.

Recent data has revealed a substantial spike in consumer interest, with monthly searches skyrocketing to 270,553, marking a staggering increase of 1,996% and showing a month-over-month growth of 33%.

Etc.

Too much gardening. If you’re looking for Crirax Galvanized metal planters on Amazon, they’re currently unavailable. But it’s not because of the product’s popularity. The whole inventory just got delivered to an unknowing customer.

A treat for new products. If you’re launching a new FBA product soon, you can take advantage of the benefits Amazon has to offer starting March 1.

Target’s Prime? Target will be launching a subscription that will rival Amazon Prime and Walmart+. The program will provide free two-day delivery to customers.
