Hey thieves!

I have been publishing content almost daily on social media for the last 3 years…until now.

No posts for an entire week (that’s a new record for me).

And you know what? It’s fine!

The reason? Ideas didn’t feel fresh anymore, and I needed a break.

Does that mean I quit making content on social media?

Not at all.

But I also realize content creation, at least good content creation, cannot be forced.

In the past, a break like this would have scared me. Now, I see it as an opportunity to come back even stronger.

So, if you are feeling content burnout, don’t be afraid to stop. The world is not going to end just because our tweets aren’t going out…I hope 😂

That said, let's move on to this week’s content!

Stolen Tactics

#1 - Newsletter ads public sale

Sponsorships are usually the first revenue stream that a newsletter creator can activate.

But if you wait for sponsorships to fall into your lap…it won’t happen.

Instead, why not go public about it and run a sale to get some momentum?

This is what Pete did for his High Signal newsletter. He went to Twitter/X and posted this 👇

Why does it work?

The result?

Plus, Pete was not stopping there. I liked to tweet so I could share it later here and he instantly popped into my DMs asking if I was interested.

I bet he closed a few months of ads just because of this. And it’s not like the tweet got crazy engagement either!

#2 - The “Shoot me a DM” sales tactic

While we are on the topic of selling on social media, I have another one for you. First, we covered newsletter ads, and now digital products.

By definition, a promotional post gets less reach than non-sales content.

However, there are ways to do it effectively.

One of my favorite tactics is the “Shoot me a DM” type of post 👇

Look at how the post is put together:

The cool part? It protects you from failure, meaning no one knows how many DMs you get.

So, if the post bombs, you can delete it and move on with your day.

#3 - Say bye to boring confirmation emails

If your newsletter confirmation emails look like this 👇

You are missing a huge opportunity.

Whenever someone subscribes to your newsletter, there are two emails they are guaranteed to get:

Usually, people put a ton of effort into the Welcome email but totally neglect the confirmation one.

The result is a generic, ultra-boring email. But who said it should be like that?

The confirmation email is a new subscriber's first touchpoint with your brand.

Why not inject some personality there? Take a look at this example from Lianna Patch 👇

It’s fun, personal, and on-brand, and it gets the job done (clicking the button), just as with the boring email.

I’ve slightly tweaked mine before, but after this, I need to improve it!
