Look, I've read dozens of books on productivity. 

I've used apps.

I've used techniques like the Pomodoro technique.

And, I'm a sucker for non fiction books. My bookshelves are overflowing with them. So, yes, I've tried (almost) everything to get more work done every day.

The thing is, it's all BS.

You're optimizing for pennies. Using an app or a technique is nice. It can a bit of productivity to your day. 

But first principles are what really make the difference between getting shit done on a day and wasting it on mindlessly scrolling Twitter or playing video games.

It's this:

After you've completed a task, you'll immediately know if you want to do more of this or not. Note that down. So next time, you can focus on tasks that energize you.

For me, my product time starts when I open the Endel app. 

It immediately starts playing this white noise and I go into flow state. Even if I didn't know how to start before I opened that app. I immediately know what to do when the music starts playing.

I then pledge to finish my task or if I don't, I donate $50 to my least favorite presedential candidate. 

That's it really. Simple == good.

Elon Musk confirmed that 𝕏 is considering expanding its policy to charge a small fee to grant write access to new users. Based on Elon's post, this seems "the only way to curb the relentless onslaught of bots."

Alex Finn posted an interesting counterargument: "My concern is this: A lot of bots on X are just old accounts purchased by bad actors. This does not stop them."

Based on usage estimates from Apptopia, Business Insider announced that "Threads just dethroned X" in the US.

Of course third party app data providers can't have a completely accurate overview of the situation. That said the shift in this case seems significant.

As reported by Business Insider: "In April so far, X has averaged 22 million DAUs, a usage rate that's 21% lower than Threads."

And based on Apptopia's data, in the US, Threads DAUs passed X in December 2023 and every month since then.

Collaborative articles have seen a 4x increase in weekly member contributions quarter-over-quarter.

Now LinkedIn is testing the introduction of 'Contribute Expertise' to the post composer.

Matt Navarra posted an example here.

Tapping this new option opens up a list of collaborative articles you can improve by sharing your expertise.

Contributors may receive the "Community Top Voice" badge in the app.

Instagram confirmed all accounts will soon have access to profile Notes.

It's another tool you can use to spark discussion and increase your engagement.

On Instagram, Reels generate more engagement than regular posts.
