If you're a member of the BanklessDAO community, you're likely already familiar with the ethos of decentralized governance. Every person who meets the criteria has a voice that carries real influence over the future direction and decision making of the DAO.

However, simply having a voice isn't enough. One also needs to know how to wield it effectively. That's where BanklessDAO's new tlBANK Snapshot space comes into play. This powerful governance tool puts the ability to create, discuss, and vote on formal proposals directly into the hands of tlBANK-verified community members.

Your Proposal Playground

The tlBANK Snapshot space is now officially live and ready for your contributions. This is where the real fun begins, where members craft thoughtful proposals to help steer the community onto the right path.

Creating a new proposal is refreshingly straightforward. Just head over to Snapshot and follow the laid-down process.

Proposal Creation 101

These are the steps you would need to follow if you are interested in drafting and getting a proposal approved.

1. Fill Out the Basics: Provide a clear title and high-level summary for your proposal so everyone understands the matter.

2. Add Juicy Details: This is where you'll flesh out the full specifications and rationale behind your proposal. Don't hold back, this is your chance to clearly articulate your vision.

3. Set the Voting Options: For most proposals, you'll likely want a simple "Approve" or "Reject" choice for tlBANK token holders to weigh in on.

4. Lock in the Snapshot: This step is crucial. You'll need to manually set the snapshot block height to 18652139 to align with the predetermined date of November 25th, 2023. Don't worry, the team is working on automating this step soon.

5. Launch it Into the World: Once you've double-checked all the details, you're ready to publish your proposal for the community's consideration!

Conscious Governance

Of course, with great proposal power comes great responsibility. The BanklessDAO multisig holds the integrity of the snapshot space as a top priority, so you can expect a few reasonable guardrails some of which are:

1. The Multisig Oversight: The trusty multisig will be keeping a vigilant eye on all snapshot proposals and votes. If anything seems out of order or misaligned with the DAO's principles, they have the authority to invalidate the proposal on the space and provide detailed justification to the community.

2. Voting Windows: All new proposals will automatically have a 3-hour delay before voting opens, allowing time for any needed revisions or discussions. Once voting commences, the snapshot will remain open for 7 days to ensure ample opportunity for participation.

3. The Art of Proposing: While everyone has full creative freedom with their proposals, the team gently recommends following a clear structure along the lines of:

• Title: This is a succinct, straightforward label for your proposal.

• Proposal Champion(s): You! For accountability, own your proposal by listing yourself and any core contributors behind the idea.

• Date: A clear timestamp for when the proposal is published.

• Summary: A high-level, engaging paragraph or two outlining the key points.

• Specifications: List all the juicy details, requirements, and ramifications that voters should know.

• Vote: The fateful call to action — Approve or Reject.

By sticking to this general template, you'll ensure your proposal is clear, well-structured, and primed for productive discourse and decision-making within the community.
