I think that’s how communities should be.

There’s a sweet spot of 100-200 members in a community where it’s big enough to get a good diversity of members, but still small enough that members feel connected to each other

Once a community crosses thousands of members, I think it turns into another tiny social network - with similar dynamics like any other social network -

• Audience building
• Engagement bait
• Spam

Often new members feel like they are posting into the void, and old members feel like the “algorithm” doesn’t care about them anymore.

That’s why you see so many large communities struggling with too much spam and too little real conversation.

​My community right now is at 130 members. It’s small, not a lot of chatter, but its mighty - lots of valuable feedback, accountability and connections.

Right now the signal to noise ratio is quite high.

And I intend to keep it that way.

That’s why I’ve decided to cap member count to 200.

Beyond that, I don’t think I’ll be able to maintain the same level of quality as there is right now.

At 200 members, I think we will be able to remain “small and mighty” as Jinny put it ❤️
