Web2 and Web3 Gaming: Growing Partnerships 🤝

For a time, it seemed that traditional, web2 gaming companies were going to stay away for web3 gaming. Many tried to dip their hands into releasing NFT collections during the play to earn boom of 2021, but severe backlash from the traditional gaming communities, and the deep, deep market crash that year, brought most of those plans to a screeching halt.

But now, it seems we’re back, with many big names in web2 gaming announcing plans and partnerships for joining the world of blockchain gaming!

Recent announcements include Attack on Titan, one of the more popular mangas ever made, pairing with The Sandbox, and Square Enix, a giant in web2 gaming, funding Soccerverse, a web3-enabled football management simulation!

We also have Ubisoft building Champions Tactics, The Sandbox constantly adding new partnerships with numerous non-blockchain projects and well-known celebrities, and much more!

The cross-over between web2 and web3 gaming will only continue to grow over the coming years. There are even rumors that GTA 6 may include NFT support!!

Layer 2 Chains Attract More Gamers 🎮

It used to be that web3 gaming was the exclusive domain of the Ethereum mainnet. And then it expanded with new blockchain launches such as WAX, Polygon, and Solana. But now, we seem to be going through another phase shift phase with new blockchains and existing chains integrating new technology focused on minimizing gas fees and any friction involved with getting players into the game.

And so this year we’ve seen the rise of gaming-centric chains such as Immutable zkEVM, Blast, and TON, ready to lead the way into a new era of blockchain gaming!

Summer Fun: Play to Airdrop 🪂
