Psychologically taxing is an understatement

Hi Friends-

I'm feeling rather quiet and reflective this week, so a few quick updates and then onto the links.

I'm hoping to open registration for my new community-focused course Hi-Fi on May 18th, with the course to begin on June 2nd. If you're already on the Hi-Fi email list, I'll be sending details soon. If you're not, pop over to hifi-course.com to learn more about Hi-Fi and tuning into the wisdom of the heart.

I did my second guided energy meditation with over a 100 folks last Thursday and it felt powerful. Thank you to those who attended and brought the good vibes! Soon, I will be launching the Light Heart Project, a new practice related to my energy work. To get on the email list and be notified about future Light Heart events, click here.

Read on for the links that made me laugh out loud, gave me hope, or are straight-up resources that I'm using to keep my body loose and stay sane.

Much love,
Jocelyn

LINKS TO LOVE

Man not sure why he thought the most psychologically taxing situation of his life would be the thing to make him productive. This Onion article was the funniest thing I read last week. It also captures a strong theme of the live Q&A I did a few weeks ago, where we had a deep discussion about the pressure that many of us are putting on ourselves to fire up creative projects while we have this down time. You can tune into the Q&A replay here.

Erykah Badu created her own livestream company for her "Quarantine Concert Series". I was really inspired by this short interview with Badu about her quickly reformulating her entire approach to live shows and business in reaction to the pandemic. "It’s like in 1997 when I created my touring company, I had to learn from scratch what everybody did, and I have to learn all over again. I’m really enjoying the ride and the education."

What Coronavirus can teach us about hope. A great piece from Rebecca Solnit: “We have reached a crossroads, we have emerged from what we assumed was normality, things have suddenly overturned. One of our main tasks now – especially those of us who are not sick, are not frontline workers, and are not dealing with other economic or housing difficulties – is to understand this moment, what it might require of us, and what it might make possible.

Prepare for the ultimate gaslighting. A call to think about how much we do — or don't — want to get back to normal: "From one citizen to another, I beg of you: take a deep breath, ignore the deafening noise, and think deeply about what you want to put back into your life. This is our chance to define a new version of normal, a rare and truly sacred (yes, sacred) opportunity to get rid of the bullsh*t and to only bring back what works for us, what makes our lives richer, what makes our kids happier, what makes us truly proud."

The six levels of higher consciousness. This essay resonated: "You eventually begin to see that all of your reacting and controlling hasn’t brought you the ease and joy you long for. Instead of being the victim to your life and or needing to make it be any particular way, which is the endless game of struggle, you begin to get an inkling that Life is something to be listened to, opened to. This is where you start evolving into the next phase of higher consciousness, where Life is happening in you.
