Everyone knows going to the gym once won't make a difference to fitter body.

It's a start.

And the first time is probably the hardest time. But it's still only a start.

The biggest mistakes first-time gym goers make is to go all in. 

- The heaviest weights they can push. 
- The most reps they can handle.
- The more sets the better.

That's when you get injuries. That's when you can really hurt yourself.

So what's the right way to handle getting better in the gym? The same way you get better at writing.

Don't sit down for hours at a time.

Get some cadence going by just writing 10 minutes a day at first.

Block some time after dinner every day and just write.

The goal is not to get great content.

The goal is just putting in the reps.

Once you're writing every day, start to increase the time you write.

A lot of people need the first 15 - 30 minutes of writing before anything good comes out. So start stretching your writing time beyond that number and you'll see your writing improve too.

And remember: the purpose of those first few months is not to get good at writing, nobody is watching anyway.

The purpose is to get your muscles pumped and to find out what content you like to write that gives you the most energy to it again tomorrow.
