TikTok’s Live feature is a blank canvas — some people play games, using it like Twitch live streams, and people who perform or create live. As is the case with the rest of the platform, the more creative, the better!

Going live on TikTok is a great way to increase engagement and reach new audiences on the app, which will ultimately help you grow your following.

There are three ways to go live: the TikTok app on your phone, mobile gaming mode (for mobile gamers looking to stream their sessions) and the TikTok LIVE Studio desktop app.

The how is one thing—more important, however, is standing out amongst the thousands of other live videos and streams being viewed at any given moment.

Here are some tips to consider to keep your livestream engaging:

1. Pick a time when your audience is most active to stream. You can see the times and days your followers will most likely view your content in TikTok analytics.
2. Although you can run a live stream for 60 minutes, keep streams to 30 minutes per TikTok’s recommendations.
3. Film in a well-lit area with natural lighting, or consider using a ring light. This helps keep your viewers’ attention on you so they are not distracted by poor vision.
4. Check your Internet connection beforehand so you can avoid interruptions to your streaming.
5. While you don’t need a script, having a solid set of guidelines can help you stay focused on your live stream.
6. To keep the atmosphere friendly and inviting, filter comments, mute viewers from commenting, and block someone from the live stream.

The best part of TikTok Live is interacting with your followers in real time. Watch the chat and respond to comments, questions, or requests to connect with your viewers.
