Issue 335- Everybody, Robot

Cybertruck's ultimate wrap treatment with Feynlab 📹
[Sponsored] We're starting to see more and more Cybertrucks on the street and, a lot of them, have beautiful wraps. This one also got the ultimate treatment—wrapped in PPF and coated with Feynlab’s PPF & Vinyl Ceramic Coating. It’s looking 🔥🔥🔥

RoboVan

Tesla announces RoboVan
Elon Musk introduced a new vehicle at the “We, Robot” event, the Tesla Robovan, designed for both passenger and cargo transport. This sleek, futuristic van can carry up to 20 people and aims to significantly reduce travel costs to as low as 5-10 cents per mile. Positioned within Tesla’s autonomous ride-hailing service, Tesla Network, the Robovan aligns with the company’s previous hints at developing high passenger-density urban transport and represents a shift in Musk’s approach to public transportation solutions.

Elon Musk details Robovan's high-tech suspension
Elon Musk has shared insights into the Tesla Robovan's unique suspension system that caught eyes during the 'We, Robot' event for its sleek, low-to-the-ground design. The Robovan features an automatic load-leveling suspension that dynamically adjusts the ride height based on road conditions to ensure smooth transport. The spacious interior, despite the exterior appearance, and a large cargo area, make it well-suited for tour and travel business operations, emphasizing functionality with a futuristic aesthetic.

Model Y

Spotted: Tesla's test Model Y Juniper in Spain 📷
The Tesla Model Y Juniper, an intriguing version under testing, has been spotted in Mataró, Spain, sporting a unique feature: the rear license plate has been shifted onto the bumper.

FSD

Free FSD transfer offer until the end of 2024
Tesla is reviving the Free FSD (Full Self-Driving) transfer offer for new Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y deliveries slated for by the end of 2024. This initiative supports customers looking to upgrade to a new Tesla by allowing them to carry over their FSD package at no additional cost, enhancing the value proposition of Tesla's advanced autonomous driving features.

Older Teslas with HW3 eligible for Robotaxi fleet 📹
Kim Java, a famous Tesla YouTuber, had the chance to ask Franz and Lars (Tesla's Chief Designer and Tesla's VP of Engineering, respectively) if the original Model 3 from 2018 will be part of the Robotaxi/Unsupervised FSD. They both acknowledged that vehicles with HW3 are good to go and will get the fully autonomous mode when it is ready. Nice!

We, Robot Event

Tesla's We, Robot event recap
Tesla’s ‘We, Robot’ event captivated attendees with glimpses into the future of autonomy across several fun-themed ‘neighborhoods.’ Highlights included Elon Musk's entrance in a Robotaxi, references to the unreleased Master Plan Part 4, and demonstrations of the Cybercab and RoboVan, embodying Tesla's vision of autonomous, sustainable urban transportation. The event also showcased Optimus prototypes serving drinks, and while the rumor is that these were remotely operated, the truth is that the way they move is impressive for something that started with a person in a robot costume just three years ago.

Wireless Charging
Tesla is gearing up for the autonomous future by focusing on three critical aspects: wireless charging capabilities, cleaning services, and fleet management. This push toward self-sufficient electric vehicles sets the stage for an innovative leap in EV autonomy.

Semi

Tesla Semi aces DHL's 3,000-mile efficiency test
DHL's two-week trial of the Tesla Semi over 3,000 miles surpassed expectations with an average energy consumption of only 1.72 kWh per mile at highway speeds—better than Tesla's own estimates. Reporting significant efficiency and a successful full-load long-distance haul, DHL is considering incorporating the Tesla Semi into its fleet. The test bolsters evidence that electric long-haul vehicles can rival diesel counterparts, with the Semi showing promising results, including a 95% uptime from early fleet data.

Robotaxi

Tesla’s Cybercab/Robotaxi unveiled: features and anticipation
Tesla revealed the Cybercab, their upcoming Robotaxi, at the 'We, Robot' event, featuring butterfly doors, a simplistic and durable interior with a large 20.5” display, and silver-painted aluminum body panels designed for cost-effective mass production. Tesla is aiming for a production timeline between 2026 and 2027. The Cybercab will be available for less than $30,000 USD, targeting both private and fleet customers, with hints at the use of FSD Hardware 5..

MKBHD's first Robotaxi experience 📹
Marques Brownlee, aka MKBHD, shares his first encounter with a Robotaxi, highlighting its futuristic features like the absence of a steering wheel, rearview mirror, and pedals. In his guided trip to an area of the Warner Studios called New York, Marques notes the simplistic interior design with a large touch screen, likely for entertainment and control, reinforcing the autonomous vehicle's cutting-edge feel.

🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • EV: Electric Vehicle
  • FSD: Full Self-Driving
  • PPF: Paint Protection Film
