One of my greatest joys in life is curling up with a book. It’s no wonder that I have a job that involves a lot of reading and digesting information at a (truly insane) clip.


I really believe in reading a lot about your industry, especially if you’re trying to make waves in your specific space. Kirsten and I often talk about media literacy (aka reading the publications that write about what you do). It’s so important if you want to pitch effectively. Plus, it will help when you’re developing new product or launching a new business!


If you don’t know what the people in your industry are doing, how the market is reacting, or what’s already been done, you simply can’t be an effective designer or business owner.


But! Sometimes you have to read for pleasure. (Many thanks to my 1st grade teacher, Mr. Moy, for helping me learn to read English and giving me this super power.)


I often feel like there are too many good books and not enough time! I read both fiction and non-fiction, but have been leaning hard into fiction, and recently finished a pirate romp, The Adventures of Amina al Surafi, a fantastic last book of summer, and All Fours because I wanted to be in the center of the zeitgeist.
