The Forty-Five - Lorde is such a tease

Wotcha!

How's your week been? It should be Tame Impala's All Points East day tomorrow and we're fed up about it. Still, we were momentarily cheered up by the news that Paul Mescal is a Phoebe Bridgers fan.

That 1975 album is out today and it's already been divisive. The usual places have heralded it as another work of genius. Most have said it's bloated and self-indulgent.

Our review? 'People' is a good song!
Lorde is working on an album... but we've got to be patient
In an email sent out to fans, Lorde revealed she's been working on her new record – the follow up to 2018's stunning 'Melodrama' – with pop producer Jack Antonoff.

"In my opinion, the greatest treat I can give you is work that will last ten, twenty, thirty years," she said.  "And that kind of work takes time. So if you can, I’d like for you to try tuning in to the time spent waiting for something of the highest quality to arrive. Enjoy the sensation as it builds. When the moment comes, our wave will crest super fucking high. I can tell you, this new thing, it’s got its own colours now. If you know anything about my work, you’ll know what that means."

You know what has its own colour, Lorde fans? 'Green Light'. It literally has a colour in the title. Can we expect 'Green Light', the sequel? 'Green Light: the return of the mega-banger?' 'Green Light: the great whites' revenge?' A girl can dream.
We made a podcast
Trash In The Attic is our new podcast. Each week, a musician has a rummage through their loft to find some hidden gems from their past. We hear the stories behind these lost items. First up, is Black Honey's Izzy Bee Phillips who has accumulated some very weird stuff over the years.

Now available, wherever you get your pods, by searching 'Trash In The Attic'. Here's a link to it on Spotify
Watch this
Peggy Gou's Oxford University Q&A is now online. She talks at length about her path from fashion student to superstar DJ and producer, using industry sexism and criticism to fuel her work. It's worth a watch.
Buy merch and help save Omeara
Everyone is skint (aren't they?) and there is more than a newsletter full of places that need support, but London venue Omeara has thought creatively about how to raise some much-needed funds. They've collabed with Yeezy designer, Louise Goldin, to create some pretty cool venue merch (and a selection of other tangible, reclaimable rewards). Here's their Crowdfunder.
