He currently holds 73 Bitcoins and aims to own 100 within a year. Kiyosaki also stated, “I own a lot of income-generating real estate, have gold mining assets, and store my profits in Bitcoin, gold, and silver coins… this is ‘real money.’” 2. South Korea’s Financial Regulator Tightens Monitoring of Bitcoin-Related Financial Assets link According to Korea Economic Daily, Lee Bok-hyun, head of South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), noted in an interview that due to Trump’s election and significant volatility in the Bitcoin market, Korean authorities are intensifying monitoring measures on related financial assets to protect investors and mitigate potential market risks. The FSS also emphasized that it will continue to closely observe both domestic and international market dynamics, especially the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy and potential new U.S. government policies, to ensure stability in South Korea’s financial markets. 4. Monetary Authority of Singapore Backs Commercialization of Asset Tokenization link The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced today its support for the commercialization of asset tokenization. The Project Guardian industry group has established two frameworks: the Guardian Fixed Income Framework (GFIF), which provides guidelines for implementing tokenization in debt capital markets, and the Guardian Fund Framework (GFF), which offers best practice recommendations for tokenized funds. MAS has also launched the Guardian Wholesale Network to further expand the application and scale of tokenization practices. 5. Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission to Strengthen Exchange Listing Scrutiny for Cryptocurrencies by January 2025 link The Taiwanese Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) will introduce new standards covering the listing of crypto assets and record-keeping requirements as part of the upcoming “Registration Regulations,” set to take effect in January 2025. Huang Xi-He, Director of the FSC’s Securities and Futures Bureau, stated at a fintech conference in Taipei on Monday that the FSC will require “virtual asset service providers” to complete compliance registration. The new rules, effective from January 2025, carry potential criminal penalties for non-compliance, including up to two years of imprisonment. 6. Israel’s Annual Audit: Poor Crypto Management Causes Tax Losses in Billions of Shekels link According to Israel’s National Auditor’s report, Israel lost an estimated 2–3 billion shekels in tax revenue each year from 2018 to 2022 due to inadequate cryptocurrency management. Among roughly 200,000 digital currency holders, only 0.25% filed tax returns. The Israel Tax Authority (ITA) introduced a dedicated cryptocurrency tax payment channel late last year, but it has yet to attract any participants. 7. The Mainland of China’s Weekly News 7.1 Leshan Police Bust Major Underground Bank: Cross-Border Crypto Transfers Totaling 38 Billion Yuan link The police in Leshan, Sichuan successfully dismantled a massive cross-regional underground banking network that spanned 13 provinces in China, with total transactions reaching 38 billion yuan. The investigation revealed that the criminal group managed 24 shell companies, providing “public-to-private” fund transfer services without genuine business operations, and used cryptocurrency transactions to facilitate cross-border fund transfers. The complex network involved around 20 million financial data entries. After meticulous investigation, authorities arrested 176 suspects, with the ringleader, Wan, sentenced to 13 years and six months. Further investigations are ongoing in various regions. 7.2 Beijing Police Dismantle Money-Laundering Group Involving Virtual Currency, Case Exceeds 800 Million Yuan link In July of this year, while investigating an embezzlement case, Beijing police uncovered that the suspect, Zhang, had transferred over 20 million yuan in illicit funds abroad through an underground money-laundering network, causing significant losses to a private enterprise. Through an analysis of suspicious transactions, police identified Lü and several of his associated accounts. Over three years, this network had transferred a staggering 800 million yuan in unexplained funds overseas. Investigations revealed that Lü’s criminal group provided financial channels for telecom fraud, online gambling, and other crimes. Upstream criminal groups often used Lü’s services for virtual currency “exchange” schemes, using domestic yuan to purchase cryptocurrency from crypto traders and brokers. The cryptocurrency was then sold to foreign buyers via overseas platforms, allowing them to convert illegal domestic earnings into foreign currency and transfer it abroad. 8. Alibaba Reduces Metaverse Operations, Laying Off Dozens link Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is scaling back its metaverse operations, with dozens of employees from its metaverse division being laid off. The division, established in 2021, had offices in Shanghai and Hangzhou and received billions in investment. While it will continue to provide metaverse applications and tool services, the scope of its operations will be significantly reduced. 9. Joint Operation in Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China Detains Suspects in Cross-Border Prostitution Ring link Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland Chinese law enforcement agencies conducted a joint operation, arresting 63 individuals suspected of operating a cross-border prostitution syndicate. The masterminds and core members were apprehended in Hong Kong. Once the mastermind received payments, they were converted into cryptocurrency, which was then managed through cryptocurrency accounts held by the Hong Kong-based mastermind. The illicit proceeds were converted into cash via unlicensed cryptocurrency platforms on the mainland. The syndicate operated a dedicated website that listed detailed information about mainland prostitution groups and individual sex workers. 10. North Korean Hacker Group BlueNoroff Launches New Malware Attacks on Crypto Firms link According to a report by SentinelLabs, a malware operation dubbed “HiddenRisk” spreads through multiple stages via PDF files. Threat actors use fake news headlines and legitimate cryptocurrency market research to lure unsuspecting individuals and companies. Once the user downloads the PDF, it appears as a legitimate bait file, while the malware is silently downloaded in the background as a separate file onto the MacOS desktop. The malware package contains several features designed to provide hackers with a backdoor, allowing them to remotely access the victim’s computer and steal sensitive information, including private keys from digital asset wallets and platforms.
