The founding charter of Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party asserts that the Jewish people have an “eternal and indisputable right” to all the land “between the Sea and the Jordan,” including every square inch of Gaza and the West Bank. The reelection of Donald Trump has given Israel a green light to enforce that vision in the most savage and extreme way imaginable. The slaughter we’ve witnessed over the past 13 months has been shocking to the conscience. But what comes next could be unimaginably worse. The Intercept believes journalists have a moral obligation to bear witness and document this brutality. We refuse to turn away or go along with the mindless pro-Israel groupthink that dominates most U.S. news media. However, as a nonprofit news outlet, we rely on donations from readers to power our reporting.
