Packages from Amazon’s discounted store, Haul, have started arriving for early adopters.

Derek Lossing, founder and senior industry advisor at Cirrus Global, told Retail Brew that his first Amazon Haul package arrived at his Seattle home on Nov. 25, 11 days after he placed the order. The brown paper package came from China and was delivered via USPS.

In a LinkedIn post, Lossing shared that the order took 36 hours to fulfill in China, and was done in partnership with Amazon’s long-time freight forwarder ECMS Express. The Haul package took roughly two days to depart from China via Guangzhou in Southern China.

Lossing’s package—which was carrying men’s joggers, a pair of shorts, a $4 wallet, and kitchen hooks—arrived at the Los Angeles airport on Nov. 19. Lossing ordered four items to hit the $25 free shipping mark.

Kohl’s

After a month of lots of retail CEO moves, November brought, well, more—as well as a number of CMO and COO shifts. Here are the ones to know:

  • Kohl’s CEO Tom Kingsbury is exiting his role on January 25, set to be replaced by Michaels CEO Ashley Buchanan, who has led the craft retailer since 2020. Kingsbury became interim CEO in 2022 after Michelle Gass’s departure, and filled the role on a permanent basis in early 2023.
  • Dollar Tree CEO and chair Rick Dreiling is leaving his role, citing personal reasons, after holding the position since March 2022. COO Michael C. Creedon will serve as interim chief exec as the retailer seeks a permanent replacement.
  • Capri Holdings announced Michael Kors CEO Cedric Wilmotte stepped away from his role, and the company’s chairman and CEO John Idol will take over. Idol previously served as the brand’s CEO until 2021.
  • Kroger CMO and chief merchandising officer Stuart Aitken will exit his role on December 31, with SVP of Operations Mary Ellen Adcock set to assume the role. Aitken is heading to consumer analytics firm Circana, where he’ll serve as CEO.

SUPPLY CHAIN

Manfucturing slowdown

It’s economic silver linings all around! Well, sorta, kinda, maybe.

US manufacturing contracted last month, albeit at a slower pace than the previous month, according to the latest report from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). ISM’s Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) stood at 48.4% in November, an improvement from 46.5% in October but still indicative of sector contraction, as it’s still below the 50% mark.

But the overall economy expanded, the ISM reported, and some manufacturers are excited over the prospect of less red tape under incoming President Donald Trump, according to the ISM’s Inside Supply Management magazine.
