💪 Does Product Differentiation Really Matter? And What IDE do You Use for Development?

Snippets
  • Contact.do - a service that offers a custom link that you can use to receive emails without sharing your email.
  • Podwii, a website generator for podcasters that will transcribe and turn your podcast into a blog, in one click. You can build your email list, attach your Patreon link as well as your own domain name. You can also embed Instagram in the footer too.
  • Use Option-Command-H to focus on the current app and hide ALL others. And Command-W to kill an open window if it's distracting me too much!
  • Create a book cover by picking any Canva Book template. Then upload it on Diybookcovers.com, a great resource for making single as well as composite book mockups for free.
Product Development
Pricing info on homepage, or linked to from homepage?

For me, I think it depends on the product and the complexity of the product. If it's a simple product with simple pricing (i.e. single pricing model), I would likely put it on the homepage. If it was a little more sophisticated, with multiple pricing plans and levers, I'd probably use a pricing page.

Does product differentiation really matter?

Yes & No.
You can build a small side hustle with a product that has no differentiation or by offering a single service a big competitor is already providing for a fraction of cost. That's 100% possible.

To scale to a big startup, you HAVE to differentiate your product. Especially when there is an incumbent in that market. There has to be a reason that everyone chooses a specific product that becomes the leader in that space and it is not a random thing.

Developers / No-Code
What IDE do you use for development?

As opposed to having a single IDE set up for everything like with VSCode, so use

  • PyCharm & PHPStorm for Laravel projects
  • Visual Studio Code for React
  • IntelliJ is best for Java.
  • Atom for light PHP
  • Datagrip for database work

Other mentions are:  Vim, JetBrains

How to Save Emails to Pocket

Send an email you want to save in Pocket on page@publishthis.email and wait for a reply. They usually reply within seconds. In that reply, you get a link to a web page with the contents of the email. Now, you can simply press "add to pocket," and you are done.

An alternative is use Evernote addon for Gmail and save it in Evernote in few clicks.

The "Page 3 Technique" — the easiest way to find buried treasure on the internet.

It's deceptively simple, and completely ignored.

That's why it works!
...Looking for potential B2B clients? Page 3.
...Looking for local businesses that struggle in the digital age? Page 3.
...Looking for overlooked business opportunities or side hustles? Page 3.
...Looking for un-listed businesses/products to acquire? Page 3.

Podcasters
How to actually get more subscribers without creating any more podcasts.

The majority of podcast followers actually find you from outside of the podcast space. Spreading your content to different content channels will become a game-changer for you. Why? Because you don't know where your best 'uber followers' actually are.

So every podcast you post needs to be transcribed into a blog post (either by software like otter.ai or a freelancer). Then you may have to edit the blog post slightly. But it won't take you long, and it will be 110% worth the returns you get (forever).
Your podcast isn't going to show up in search results. Your blog post will. And you can repurpose this content on Twitter by

  • Scheduling a Twitter thread with Hypefury
  • Uploading to LinkedIn as a post
  • Publishing it to Medium using Medium import story tool
  • Sharing it on Pinterest
