Paper Mario

Hi, issue #190 of your weekly round-up here, with the Nintendo news you need to see.

Paper Mario is here, and well, take a shot for every review you read which mentions The Thousand Year Door. ๐Ÿฅด The game has reviewed well, with some reservations around the ring-based battle system, but plenty of positive comments about the writing. I've not picked it up yet, but plan to soon.

Over 20 games games dropping on the eShop next week, including Crysis and Carrion.

Thanks for reading,
Chris โœŒ๏ธ

REVIEW Paper Mario: The Origami King - a heartfelt creation that doesn't quite stand up "The Origami King does offer a few welcome concessions to its RPG roots, but it also shies away from growing these further over the course of the game, struggling to ever emerge truly distinct".

Tom Phillips // Eurogamer

INTERVIEW Paper Mario’s development team lays it all out — Nintendo and Intelligent Systems discuss the making of The Origami King and the challenge of reinventing a decades-old series.

Andy Robinson // VGC

โ–ถ The future of Paper Mario— Xander Morningstar speaks to André Segers of Gamexplain to talk about the series history, how Paper Mario: The Origami King stacks up to it's predecessors, and where the series can go from here.

Nintendo World Report // YouTube

REVIEW Rez Plz — A puzzle platformer best experienced in co-op.

Neal Ronaghan // Nintendo World Report

The power of a map— Nintendo sure do know how to make a good in-game map.

Laurie Eggleston // Nintendad

The best Nintendo Switch battery cases to extend your play time

โšก๏ธ Quick Links:

๐Ÿ›‹  Kinda weird, but FF Crystal Chronicles won't have local multiplayer.

โœจ  Here's another look at Crysis running on Switch.

๐Ÿ—“  Both the Hero and Joker Amiibo will arrive in October.

๐Ÿ›  A fair few Capcom games are on sale right now.

๐ŸŽ  A bit more fuel for the rumour that Need for Speed is Switch bound.

๐Ÿงป  Here's a very cute clay re-creation of an Animal Crossing island.

๐Ÿ“  CNET put together a little wish list video of what they want to see in a Switch 2.

๐Ÿ—ก  These Breath of the Wild plushies are pretty darn cute. I like the Bokoblin.

๐Ÿ“ฌ  Someone lost their Switch but got it back thanks to the in-game mail in AC:NH.

๐ŸŽฎ  I keep meaning to get the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+. It really does look like a rad controller.

๐Ÿ˜  I want this. I don't need this.

๐Ÿ˜ต  A 'waifu' game has been removed from the eShop due to nudity.
