First details on Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a free online co-op mode coming this fall

Today's Quickscope Deal of the Day is The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III - Extracurricular Edition - $41.99 $59.99.

  • The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is a role-playing video game developed by Nihon Falcom. It is a part of the Trails series, itself a part of the larger The Legend of Heroes franchise, and is a direct sequel to The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II.
  • The story is centered around main character Rean Schwarzer, now a military professor, as well as his students, and the rest of his military school friends from the prior two entries, notably exploring subjects such as the mysterious origins of Rean's birth, and what others have been up to since the events of the prior games.
  • The game plays as a traditional JRPG with turn-based battles, similar to Trails of Cold Steel II. An emphasis on speeding up battles was made as well, including making transitions into battle scenes more seamless, and being able to map out more battle commands to specific buttons rather than various menus.

First details on Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a free online co-op mode coming this fall
A free co-op mode for Ghost of Tsushima, Legends, will release later this year. It's a new online cooperative multiplayer* mode that will come as a free download for Ghost of Tsushima owners.

Legends is an entirely new experience -- it's a separate mode that doesn't follow Jin or the companions from his journey, but instead focuses on four warriors who have been built up as legends in stories told by the people of Tsushima. Ghost of Tsushima's single-player campaign focuses on an open world and exploring the natural beauty of the island, but Legends is haunting and fantastical, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology and an emphasis on cooperative combat and action.

Did you know that Microsoft Flight Simulator is even older than Windows itself?

It's true. The grizzled veteran of PC gaming has lived through (and been shaped by) virtually every major shift in the medium across almost 40 years. Its latest iteration is the most advanced version. the sheer technical achievements in this game are just mind-boggling.

From things like real-time weather system to the rendering of real-world airports and locations using AI-assistance.

The 2020 edition - which is also the first new one since 2014 - gives virtual pilots access to a full planet's worth of skyways. And thanks to satellite imagery working hand-in-hand with Microsoft's Azure cloud technology, it's built to be a graphical powerhouse. They used Bing map data to render the world, the attention to detail in creating each model of the plane (plane design, sound, handling, technical and so on), the real-world physics in play (in basically all aspects of flight such as speed, wind, temperature, light, gravity and so on), graphics, sound, scale, and real-world lighting.

This definitely isn't the kind of game for people who want something with points to chase or action to revel in. Flight Simulator has always been more of an experiential thing, rewarding patience and time investment with something that feels like an escape.
