Pikmin 3

Hi, here's issue #202 of Switch Weekly with the latest on all things Nintendo. Hope you're having a great weekend.

Another busy week on the eShop coming up, as yet again over 30 games are landing on the store over the next seven days — the full list is below as usual.

Thanks for reading,
Chris ✌️

🎮 Currently PlayingDonkey Kong Country 2, Wide Ocean Big Jacket

Pikmin 3 Deluxe - Nintendo Treehouse: Live — Pikmin 3 Deluxe arrives later this month, as such Nintendo recently held a live presentation (around 40 minutes) showing off what new things have been added to this Wii U port to earn that 'Deluxe' suffix. A demo for Pikmin 3 is also now up on the eShop — I played it back on the Wii U, it's a great game. Here's a preview from Richard Aitkinson at My Nintendo News.

REVIEW FIFA 21: Legacy Edition Don't buy FIFA 21. It's a full-priced re-release of FIFA 20, which was essentialy the same as FIFA 19. EA are sadly putting in miminal effort for the Switch version. As such, this review is a copy and paste of last year's, republished. Yes, it's a cheeky move, but good on Simon at IGN for doing this I reckon.

Simon Cardy  // IGN

REVIEW I Am Dead — Seemingly memorable, if a tad short, Neal describes this as an: "eclectic blend of puzzle game and visual novel that is a delight to play".

Neal Ronaghan  // Nintendo World Report

REVIEW Falcon Age — Said to be a good effort from a small team, with the end result being a game that's full of ambition, but not without its flaws.

Chris Lawn  // Vooks

REVIEW Ikenfell — "a very inclusive game that can be comedic, dramatic, and heartfelt. There are some hiccups, sure, but it’s generally satisfying".

Jenni Lada  // Siliconera

REVIEW The Survivalists

Grant L // Nintenpedia

Coping through chaos— The author details how during lockdown, the unpredictability of Sayonara Wild Hearts mirrored the current reality; becoming a constant to cope through chaos. The game became something of a "metaphorical lifeline" for Renate, "not in spite of the initial impression of unpredictability, but because of it".

Renate Plehwe // Into the Spine

From Game Boy to 3DS: The legacy of Nintendo's handhelds — Analysts, developers and former Nintendo staff share their thoughts as at the why the company has dominated the portable gaming space for over three decades.
