This week, we'll be looking at a relatively new company that's been making a splash in the dev-tools / dev-adjacient market: Range.co
Background [1][2][3]:
Estimated revenue: $1.2M ARR
Number of employees: 16
Funding raised: $8.5M
Founded: March 31, 2017

Price [4]:
Free Plan: Up to 10 accounts
Standard Plan: $6/user up to 100 accounts
Premium Plan: $12/user up to 1000 accounts

Range.co is a communications and collaboration tool that helps teams stay on track and in sync via daily async check-ins.

Asides from daily check-ins, Range also offers additional features to help companies build culture and enhance team relationships.

These features include built-in, shareable team questions (designed by team coaches and organizational psychologists) and emojis/flags which can be used to indicate a team member's moods, offer encouragement or demonstrate gratitude for a team member’s efforts.

Since its founding in 2017, Range has built an impressive customer base which includes Twitter, Medium and Pocket, raised $8.5M in funding and, grown to a team of 16 people [5][6] [7].

This week, we'll be looking at how a bootstrapper could enter into the async check-in software market by specifically focusing on the Software Developer niche.

We'll take a look at common alternatives to Range, leaning why Software Develops are a fantastic market for software like this, and how we can differentiate from Range and appeal to a certain group of customers that Range can't even touch right now!

We'll also discuss two more awesome opportunities:
  1. How to create an OKR software solution that grabs the interest of companies who know they want to start doing OKRs, but don't know how. (ps: this is a great positioning angle to take in a market that is trending rapidly!)

  2. An AI-based opportunity that takes automation to the next level for the Shared Inbox software market!
