[Crew Review] Amazon tweaks its algorithm

Piss posh

External traffic has never been more important

Amazon is making changes to its current algorithm, and it looks like a defensive move against other e-commerce platforms.

Because of the pandemic and the boom of online shopping, brick-and-mortar stores such as Target and Walmart have joined in on the internet battlefield.

With more competitors out there, Amazon is highlighting an important factor—external traffic. And it’s rewarding sellers with higher ranking if they improve on this.

What Amazon wants to prevent is being upstaged in Google search results.

When a customer searches on Amazon for products, that’s not a problem for Uncle Jeff. But when they start looking for it on other search engines, Amazon will have to elbow its way up if the competition begins to outrank it.

In order to prevent this, sellers are encouraged to increase external traffic to their listings through the use of social media, blog articles, or emails.

In case you’ve missed it, we have a full course on exactly how to do this.

With the algorithm changing, now’s the time to get serious about your content game.

There may be fewer piss-filled bottles in Amazon warehouses

Half empty or half full?

Philosophical questions like this hardly come up when you see bottles filled with workers’ pee around Amazon’s massive fulfillment centers. The company has been criticized for its poor working conditions for years, and we can’t blame the critics.

But now with President Biden at the White House, workers’ rights are among the top priorities.

With this promised support, Amazon workers are thinking of coming together to unionize.

Will Amazon succumb to the demands of a stronger, more united group of employees?

Jeff needs more pilots

Speaking of employees, Bezos will be having more of those in 2021. But this time, they need to have a license to fly planes.

Over the years, Amazon has grown from a humble online bookstore to one of the most well-known logistics companies with an e-commerce front.

To strengthen his empire’s ability to provide faster delivery, Jeff bought 11 additional Boeing 767-300 planes.

Sure, Amazon sells products on its platform as well. But the unfair advantage it has over others is the system that allows it to get orders to customers in just 1 to 2 business days. And with more Prime Air planes cruising above us, this waiting time might be even shorter.

(We’re hoping products could simply teleport from our device to our living room. But until then, these Boeings will do.)

Green efforts

While Amazon (the rainforest) is losing more trees each year, its namesake is trying to do what it can to cause less harm to the environment.

Amazon Technologies, Inc., has an ongoing application for a patent for repurposable packages. This will allow users to send items without the need for printing shipping labels because identifiers are embedded into the packages themselves.

This isn’t the first project Amazon has when it comes to packaging, however. In 2019, it obtained a patent for containers that could transform into toys.

So if you were ever feeling guilty about your business significantly contributing to the Earth’s waste problem, you can breathe more easily now (but put your mask on).

A mega guide and a book

Most EcomCrew Premium subscribers make a business out of importing from China. So naturally, we would have a mega guide outlining the important steps of the process.

Reading the 32-page guide is a great first step.

But if you’re serious about your importing game, Dave wrote a whole book about it. He takes lessons from more than a decade of trials and triumphs in the business.

Importing from China Like a Pro has everything you need, from finding the right suppliers to making sure your inventory arrives on time.

We’re giving the book today free of charge. All you have to do is pay for it to be sent to your doorstep.

For the newbie, it’s a detailed material to get started with. For the experienced importer, it’s a tool both for review and improvement.
