Issue 153 - Lots of pics and vids of the refreshed Model S/X

Our friends at MoneyWiz, apart from driving a Model 3 and sponsoring this week's Tesletter, have an iOS app to manage your finances like no other. If you're tired of manually syncing bank and investment accounts, or frequently find yourself reconnecting broken sync processes between your accounts and other finance apps, we highly recommend MoneyWiz. It's going to make your life so much easier! It connects to over 40k entities in over 50 countries, cloud sync, and frequent software updates (like your Tesla πŸ˜‰).

Model S & X refresh

First known photos of the Model S Plaid and the refreshed Model X πŸ“·
This week it's all about the Model S and X refresh. Lots of videos and pictures being shared online. Here are some of the refreshed Model X. Can't see much but... I'm excited, what can I say?

Refreshed Model S interior video πŸ“Ή
Check out the interior of the new Model S, this one doesn't have the yoke but it's equally beautiful. Looking forward to seeing it in person!

Second row screen in S/X refresh will allow watching videos while driving
I mean... taxis, kids,... I can see many use cases in which allowing watching videos while driving (in the second row) is going to be a great experience without compromising safety. What do you think?

Refreshed Model S yoke pictures πŸ“·
I don't know about the ergonomics, but the more pictures I see, the more I like it. 😍

Model Y & Model 3

Model Y/3 2020/21 recall πŸ“·
The A/C sensors are going bad so if you think you have any problems with your Model Y/3 A/C, you can make an appointment through the mobile app or ask Tesla about it during your next service appointment.

Protect your rockers
Rockers are one of the parts that get the most damage from chips and debris, even more so if you live in cold climates with snow and salt on the roads. Our friends from Tesbros just released their Model 3/Y PPF Rockers kits and are running a 20% sale until this Sunday 3/7 at midnight Pacific.
We took delivery of our 7-seater Model Y... AMA! πŸ“·
Yesterday, we took delivery of our new 7-seater LR AWD Model Y with 20" Induction Wheels. We were sad to say by to Chispas (our Dec 2017 Model S 75) but so happy to get the new tech and lots of new features! Sharing a few first impressions:
  • Vanessa, who is 5' 4", fits well in the third row with enough legroom for everyone. I'm 6' and I was able to sit in the second and first rows comfortably while she was in the third row. Picture in the tweet
  • Love the look of white on white with the 20" wheels
  • One pedal driving, OMG OMG
  • Cameras and dashcam viewer, so nice, I feel like I finally can properly use Sentry Mode
  • A bit of a rougher drive but not noisy
  • The sound system is so much better (we drove home blasting Metallica, MotΓΆrhead, and Pantera 🀘)
  • Still getting used to not having the IC screen and missing the turn-by-turn directions of the S
  • And last but not least, the delivery experience was great, the car is flawless
We're preparing some posts sharing more details and pictures. Have questions? Ask away!

[Summon] How steep is too steep? πŸ“·
@TonyTesla4Life, fellow Tesla owner and creator of the 'Quick bandit' license plate mount, has thrown some light to why Summon is not working on steep surfaces and how much is too much. The answer is 5 degrees. Check it out!

Software updates

The next FSD update includes updates on NN to surround video
Tesla is working on updating all Neural Networks to surround video using subnets on focal areas which are delaying a new FSD Beta update. In exchange, "This is evolving into solving a big part of physical world AI."- said Elon Musk. A totally worth tradeoff!

Drivers profiles being sent to the cloud
According to @greentheonly, the latest software update introduces the ability to send driver profiles to the cloud, which would make it easier for drivers to access their profiles from multiple vehicles. Users could essentially access any Tesla and have their customized profiles, such as game and app settings, migrate with them.

What the acronym

As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • FSD - Full Self-Driving
  • NN - Neural Network
  • IC - Instrument Cluster, the screen above the steering wheel
